Vargas-Mayorga brawl! By Francisco Salazar / Photo: Big Joe Miranda A press conference to announce the showdown between Fernando Vargas and Ricardo Mayorga erupted in violence today at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, CA. Don King and Kathy Duva of Main Events were present to announce the bout, which will headline a stellar card that is set to take place on Saturday, September 8th. After both spoke about the anticipation about the bout, which will be held at a catch-weight of 162 pounds, Mayorga took to the dais and began to rant about Vargas being past his prime and how he would knock him out. Mayorga then went on to say he is doing a favor to Vargas' family by sending Vargas into retirement, which prompted Vargas to stand up. Despite Duva sitting between the two, Mayorga proceeded to smack Vargas across the face, which led to Vargas throwing and landing two right hands to the head. Numerous people rushed the stage in the chaotic brawl that saw Mayorga cut on the cheek and Vargas with a cut on his hand. Both fighters screamed towards one another until Mayorga was led to another room. Vargas has stated that this will be the final bout of his professional career, regardless of the outcome. Mayorga stated that after he defeats Vargas, he will drop down to welterweight and challenge any of the titleholders in that division. (More to come)
:::: HERE WE GOOOOOo......:bears::bears::cheer: Mayorga lay the smackdown on VARGAS...:: Vargas was able to land two right hands in a row? DAMN!!!
fucking Mayorga always looping his shot...no wonder Vargas landed to right hands.....look at the LEFT SLAP...from a mile away...:nono:
 LMAO at the woman in between them screaming in stupor and horror like she just saw Godzilla tearing through 5th ave.
The looks on DK's face are priceless.:: For the record, I hope Vargas beats the living fuck outta Mayorga! I'm not a Vargas fan but Nando is a good guy, and deserves to go out with a win after all the great fights he's given us. Mayorga is just scum, his gimmick got played out 4 years ago.
 That Mayorga, he sure knows how to sell a fight, even if he got cracked a couple in the process, I probably won't miss this fight when it happens ppv or not
This fight is gonna be great. I think Vargass KO's Mayorga but the hype leading up to it will be GREAT!:bears:
Both are damaged goods but Nando is more damaged. Will be a very interesting fight though, in a sick twisted kinda way.:crafty:
:: GREAT STUFF!! bwaaaaahahahahahahahaha!! I can't wait for this circus show...I mean fight.
THis fight is going to be awsome for as long as it lasts! Mayorga slapped Vargas on the face? That bastard is crazy! This is a much watch for any boxing fan!:: :: ::
   These pictures are killing me with joke!! I'm crying here! These are two crazy cats!!
The FIRST round of this fight is going to be great!:eeeek: Guaranteed round of the year! Mayorga will try to KO Nando as soon as possible, make no mistake and Fernando will respond in kind. Both men believe that the other is more damaged than they are and so they'll try to take advantage right away. It's gonna be CRAZY!!:eeeek:
If Mayorga wins, and Pavlik beats Taylor, then I smell Pavlik-Mayorga early next year, and a vicious beating for Ricardo.
This is why most boxing fans suck, they would rather see a joke of a fight between two old, fat, inactive and limited as hell clowns than a real fight with skilled boxing. This fight won't be great, as poor as their defense is, I bet they'll be missing all over the place.
WTF are you talking about? We can appreciate all types of fighters, and fights! Hell, this is a forum dominated by Floyd fans, is Floyd an old, limited, innactive clown? This should be a good fight between two has beens. Prime for prime, theres no doubt in my mind Vargas beats him. At this point I favor Mayorga.
by skilled boxing you mean to guys that combine throw 30 punches a round...20 of them being jab...and go on to boring decisions....and the "FANS" in attendance and watching on TV are dissapointed...THATS THE KIND OF "REAL" FIGHTS THAT KILL BOXING.....
I think if you accept it for what it is, or at least what it should be - an entertaining fight between two warriors past their best - then there's nothing wrong with it...just as long as nobody comes on here afterward claiming the winner is going to clean out the middleweight division and then move up and take the winner of Calzaghe-Kessler. ::
