    ESPN:

    • Welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. won the ESPY Award for best fighter. Mayweather defeated Oscar De La Hoya on May 5 in boxing's highest-grossing fight ever. The pound-for-pound king, a first-time winner, beat out four other first-time nominees: Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao and UFC fighters Randy Couture and Quinton Jackson. It was the first time boxers and mixed martial artists were in the same category.

Congrats to PBF. It was a great victory. Might not have turned out to be that great of a fight but none the less it was still a great victory. I'll Holla 5000

Even if you consider PBF's LOSS to DLH a victory , he still should be last on the list of the above mentioned names.

He could have won under track and field - or in the professional hugging catagory.

    At least a boxer won.

It was an improvement from 6 years ago. They gave Lennox Lewis the ESPY for best boxer of the year....for going 1-1 against Hasim Rahman.

What do you mean "more impressive" As if it was .

That wasn't impressive to begin with. It was a gift .

If you randomly changed around the judges that night , DLH could have gotten the decision.
Bad enough many many people thought PBF lost including one of the judges and his own Father.

Floyd Mayweather, the undefeated universally recognized BEST fighter in the game, just won his 5TH WBC belt in as many divisions defeating the biggest star since Leonard and Tyson...in history's RICHEST fight!

    The real question is:

WHO ELSE WOULD HAVE DESERVED IT?

Did you ever post your score card for that fight? I'd be curious to see which 7 rounds you scored for Oscar.

I had my rounds right after the fight. At this point I would have to re-watch the whole fight again and re-score it ..
Perhaps if I catch a rainy day this week while I'm on vaction , I'll score the rounds again.

It was a hard fought victory and Floyd won in most people's eyes (those who can score a fight anyways). :bears:

Whatever. You can say he won but , when you say "a hard fought victory" , now you are sounding ridiculous. I almost spit the water out of my mouth.
There was nothing hard fought about that fight. In fact there wasn't much fighing at all.

Doesn't Wlad get anything ever for defeating Peter, stopping Byrd, stopping Brock, stopping Ray Austin and stopping Brewster {in an avenging role no less}????

Thats the "0" of a highly touted puncher, the "0" of an Undefeated US Olympian, only the second man to stop Byrd {and only the 2nd/3rd to beat him} and his gimme vs Austin and the highly impressive performance in the rematch with Brewster.

    Klitschkos last 5 were 146-8

Yet Ring don't even give him the Heavyweight belt.

    :dunno: :dunno:

The Ring may now be leary about giving the heavyweight belt prematurely to a Klitschko.
