For those of you who give Williams a shot, I advise you to go back and watch his fight with Cauthen.

It made Simms-Alcine look like Corrales-Castillo I.

 

I had no idea about that, I have only seen a couple of his recent fights, and was not overly impressed.

Margarito should thump him without much problem.

Doubt that. Williams is not really a true puncher. I agree both can be sloppy as fuck though.

 

Williams is not a 1 punch guy, and neither is Margarito for that matter. Margarito has a better punch than williams though.

Margarito TKO 11 Williams - I was originally going with pick Paul, but I really think Margarito will be motivated and will up his game significantly for this fight...and I do think he faced real issues going into the Clottey fight.

People keep thinking Williams is going to outbox Margarito...couldn't be further from the truth. Williams is not a boxer, he is a volume puncher/swarmer who often gives up his height and reach. He will give Margarito ample opportunity to nail him with the overhand right clean, and especially to punish the body...and I think Tony's uppercuts will catch Paul often as Williams begins to lean in more and more. Paul fights with his chin up in the air. I also don't think Williams punches as hard as folks believe he does.

I think Paul does well early, but Margarito begins to come on, punish the body, land big shots and push Williams backwards and take the late rounds. It should be a hell of a fight.

Gomez UD Gatti. Folks are sleeping on the fact that Gomez has fought bigger opponents throughout is career, is the bigger man, is mega-motivated...and most of all, is the much sharper SHORT puncher. I think he'll go to war and he will outfight Gatti.

Cintron KO 9 Mathysee - Cintron will survive shaky moments early to spear Mathysee with his heavy, straight jab and set up booming right hands and clean-up left hooks that eventually stop Mathysee. I truly think Cintron was mentally overwhelmed more than anything else vs. Margarito (vs. being really legitimately hurt) and he has toughened mentally since then. This fight will tell us much.
