Margarito was a champion, had a tough time getting other top fighters to fight him, and had consistently taken on a higher level of opposition (than Baldomir), and had only lost once in about 11 years, which was a disputed decision on a fight that ended early due to a cut...in a fight at 154 (not 147) in which most people thought he was winning.

Twisted... Floyd is going to fight Hatton. Hatton arguaby is the toughest fight out there in the middle weight classes. Whether people want to hear it or not, Hatton has beaten better guys than Margarito, has a lot more skills and is therefore a much tougher opponent.

Let's not rain on the Fraud groupie parade. Guys like Xplosive, REED, Neil, and LATIN KING are still celebrating Fraud cleaning out the division without having to step into the ring. Fraud is a fucking legend!!!

A narrow but clear victory over an Oscar De La Hoya that was 5 years seperated from his last meaningful win...

dsimon, you're argument is flawed. Margarito wanted to prove himself against the best in the world in Floyd Mayweather Jr. Floyd wanted none of it. Floyd didn't even want to 'negotiate' a fight. It was a complete brush off with Floyd acting like Margarito didn't even exist while taking on that joke Baldomir. I'm shocked that you're mute on the subject of Floyd wanting nothing to do with Margarito.

Personally I have never demanded flid should have fought margarito, because I never thought he was that good.

I have always thought cotto, oscar, and mosley would be harder fights.

De La Hoya would beat Marge.

It still wasn't a clear victory to many of those in the arena and on this board. Hell even Floyd's old man gave the victory to DLH.

Both close decision victories in which Fraud had to stink the fuck out of the arena just to attain.

Fraud only cares about the fans.

Well, I think anybody being honest about their styles would admit to such.

Honestly, you think Baldomir would do anymore against Spinks than Mayorga did?

Use the Mayweather fight as a basis, if you must.

Baldomir beat Judah because he stayed at the same level and Judah relented...Margarito has showed over his long career, he's not a fighter who does that.

But fine, if you can't admit that they are better, so be it.

We can revisit this topic in the future.

And I MIGHT be the first half Jew president of the United States. Williams is a prospect who fought well yesterday that is all we know. Cotto could punch a hole in the skinny lad his next fight or Williams could go on to become the next powder punching terror in the middle divisions.... But it is all conjecture, so why assume Floyd can't handle the guy?:dunno: Floyd has handled top opposition including slicksters, punchers, nose pickers and stuttering strevedores with issues.

I've heard a lot of bs about it. Nothing concrete. When it's signed and reported, then I guess we can discuss it. I doubt Floyd wants the fight.

  12. Mitchell Kane

Well, if Mayweather gets as little respect for defense as Margarito did, he'll be in for a hell of a fight because he ain't matching punch-outputs with Williams...who some people gave rounds to for simply having the higher punch out-put, regardless of if they missed, landed, or some varying degree in between.

Cotto was at 140 until December last year, Oscar wasn't fighting til May this year and Mosley was on vacation.

That was why Margarito was being mentioned so prominently.

I am hardly mute on this subject Hanzy:lol:. I am not defending the morality of Fraud's decision making. I am saying that while he could have fought Margarito there was no compelling reason why he should have. Baldimore is not inferior to Antonio and Margarito for whatever reason never proved himself to be a fighter on Floyd's level... and he just got beat by Williams last night.

To the untrained eye Margarito looks slow and loopey... hardly material that would give Floyd a problem. So what is the compelling reason for Floyd to fight Margarito? then or now?

And maybe floyd should have taken the fight, marge is certainly better than baldomir, but I guess I am just saying I have never considered marge a must fight opponent for floyd to prove his greatness, or anyone else.

See that is what I am saying!! And what... pray tell is Mexican basing this analysis upon? Well lets see:notallthere: :notallthere: ahaa! apparently Cotto, De La Hoya and Mosley have fought top Tiere guys. They may have some reason that compels Floyd to accept their challenge on those grounds. Sounds logical to me.

You know what nobody can say wether Baldimore is better or worse than Margarito. There is no basis for this judgement. These two guys should fight.

I am not being cheeky when I say there is no basis for saying Margarito is better than Baldimore. It is a fact. They should fight to determine this. Both guys are slow, Baldimore is more technically sound Margarito has a better punch.

The PROBLEM is a BUNCH of Floyd Mayweather NAYSAYERS R PISSY Cause Margarito LOST...

Why???...Cause to a MAN,All the Floyd Naysayers USED Margarito as an Example of Floyd "Ducking" Somebody:rolleyes: ...Meanwhile,Floyd beat the LINEAR Welter Champ AND a Naturally Bigger Man @ HIS Weight, yet the Naysayers Still Wanna Act UNimpressed...MANY of Ya'll DOUBTED that he'd even Fight the Bigger Man & HIS Weight....

Floyd's Resume,Skills,Talents,Abilities & Accomplishments SHIT on Margarito's, just as REED has Stated ALL ALONG....

& NOW, Margarito LOSES to a Relatively UNproven Fighter & the Floyd Naysayers R PISSY???:dunno: ...Margarito Is UNproven,Sorry...

What EXACTLY has Margarito Done???...REED was NEVER Impressed & Last Night,Margarito REINFORCED why REED was NEVER Impressed...

    God you suck at logic.

It doesn't matter how much better Floyd is or his accomplishments are, you don't beat people by default. Floyd shouldn't have fought margarito, but him losing doesn't justify the idea that he "would've beaten him anyway"

Thats just fucking stupid and its nutlickers like you that make it hard to root for anone cause ur incessant bullshit is annoying and hideous to the ears.

We'll see how serious Mayweather is at fighting the best welterweights by what he does in November.....because Hatton is not one of the best welterweights.

Wow, you just provided the perfect example of a Mayweather fan that doesn't think he needs to actually fight opponents to prove he's the better man..

Because Margarito lost to Williams proves nothing about Mayweathers chances against Antonio unless of course Floyd suddenly became a 6'1" southpaw that throws 100 punches per round..

Williams will be tough for anyone to beat and Margarito would still be a handful for any 147 pounder in the world..

Ok lets say that margarito is better than Baldimore. I don't necessarily believe this but to be consistant and look at the facts, Margarito has fought a similar level of opposition as Baldimore and been more consistant a winner than Baldimore.

Manny Pacquiao fought Barrera, Fagquez, and Morales who were considered the top guys in the featherweight division(s) all in a 3 year span going 1 win - 1 loss - 1 draw. And you know what? No one gives a shit that he didn't beat all of them down the first time through because he had the guts to makes fights with them in the FIRST place.

Floyd's stays at 140 and 147 didn't prove anything we didn't know before. He can beat C and B level fights. Big whoop.

He's also significantly taller and longer than Baldomir, which helps make up for his lack of speed...Margarito is also one of the better body punchers in the sport, and while some won't admit it or recognize it, I think he does have some defensive ability (and he certainly blocked and avoided a lot of Williams' punches last night...though when Williams is throwing over a 100 a round, you can block or avoid a high percentage and still get hit a lot).
