    I've cut myself shaving enough to know that a razor can be dangerous. Are box cutters allowed in prison? The prison test should be enough to determine if an object can be dangerous.

    The girl was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday after being found guilty of unlawful wounding.
    She was cleared of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
    Her victim, Shanni Naylor, needed 30 stitches after being attacked during an English lesson at Myrtle Springs School in Sheffield in October last year. <!-- E SF -->
    Speaking outside court, the Naylor family's solicitor, Garry Dickinson, said his clients had begun civil proceedings against the school, alleging a breach of its duty of care towards Shanni.
    He said: "She's got very, very serious scarring and there's nothing plastic surgeons can do to change that, really."
    The Recorder of Sheffield, Judge Alan Goldsack QC, told the court on Friday that he did not have the power to impose a custodial sentence as the girl had been convicted on a lesser charge.
    He praised the jury system, saying only those who had not followed the details of the case would be surprised by the verdict.
    The court heard that Shanni's attacker had herself been "chronically bullied" for months.

    Both girls were 12 years old at the time.
    During the three-day trial, the court heard how the girl approached Shanni and slashed her across the face without warning, leaving her permanently scarred.
    The incident happened a day after the defendant was attacked by Shanni as more than 100 pupils looked on.
    A teacher who witnessed the assault, in which Shanni was said to have repeatedly punched the girl's head, described it as "horrendous".
    The jury was told the defendant had an extremely low IQ and came from Somalia, where it is a cultural practice for women to settle disputes by scratching each other's faces, usually resulting in superficial injuries.
    The girl said she was sorry for what she had done and had only wanted to scare Shanni.
    Sentencing her, the judge said: "You have taken a razor blade with you into school, walked up to another girl in your class and, under the nose of your teacher, slashed that girl three times in the face with that razor."
    'Few surprised'
    The judge noted that Shanni's injured face had appeared on the front page of a number of newspapers.
    "Media interest in your trial has remained considerable, no doubt because of the public concern about the number of knives and other sharp instruments being carried into schools by pupils and then used as weapons," he said.
    "Many who have not followed the details of the case may express some surprise that you were not convicted of the more serious offence.
    "If you had been, a custodial sentence of some length would have been the only possible sentence despite your very young age.
    "I suspect few who have heard evidence in this case are surprised at that verdict. Rather they would take the view it's another example of the jury system working at its best."
    A spokesman for Sheffield City Council said it had been an "immensely distressing" time for the families involved. He said both girls remained in education and would continue to be supported.<!-- E BO -->

    In a fight between a guy with a boxcutter and a guy without a boxcutter, how many times would the guy have to get cut in the throat before it was anything lethal? How many times would the guy get accurate before the guy just rushed him and tackled him to the ground, or punched him then grabbed the guys arm then tackled him.

    Two men fighting, as would have been the case on the planes, a boxcutter wouldn't do shit against one person let alone the rest of the passengers.
