Promoter Frank Warren says more than 17,000 tickets have already been sold for Joe Calzaghe's WBO/WBA/WBC super-middleweight title fight against MiKkel Kessler on November 3. The news came as Calzaghe admitted that the fight against the Dane will be the hardest of his 10-year reign as a world champion. Speaking to the press in London, the 35-year-old Welshman added that it is a "dream come true" the mouth-watering showdown will be held at the Millennium Stadium in his home town of Cardiff. Early indications suggest the show could break the 63,500 record attendance for an indoor boxing show, with around 70,000 tickets on sale. http://fightbeat.com/news_details.php?NW=2076
There is no doubt the house will be sold out. I still don't trust Warren and Joe though. I aint drinkin the koolaid until I see it on my t.v.:nono:
We've had some good paper matchups so far this year...Pavlik Miranda, Floyd dlh, Margarito Williams come to mind, but I friggin' love this matchup: Calz is 35, a possible negative, but he's had a tough distance fight and an impressive blowout and appears to be at the top of his game. Kessler is probably in his prime and also has had a distance fight within a year of this upcoming fight. Both guys should/could be at their best. Both guys undefeated. Both guys proven. Both guys really, really good. Both guys have advantages on paper. Hard fight to predict. All outcomes seem possible. Close fight = probable rematch Blowout = superstar and a still viable opponent for other fighters. Clear win = p4p top 5 resume boost for the winner.
17,000 tickets in Wales? Wow!!! That's gotta generate around 17,000 euros! In fact, Calzaghe-Kessler might come close to generating around 100,000 Euros for the gate alone!
can't wait until Calzaghe gets smashed. Kessler better prepare for 12 rounds of stink. He's going to have to buzz-saw his way through a stink-cloud of desperation.
Holy shit! This fight might collect like.....a million dollars at the gate alone! Plus another million or two on PPV!
Missing the point completely, mate. As an occasion, 70000 screaming fans is not to be forgotten easily. It's the type of memory that every sportsperson should strive to achieve. Surely you can see past the $$$$???
Now, now, just because PBF beat ODLH and Hatton KTFOed Castillo, and Calzaghe humiliated Lacy, and Mosley beat ODLH in the rematch, and RJJ shut out Ruiz, is no reason to pick on Double.
No, they're not. But I know one thing for sure: it doesn't matter what the gate is for Calbum versus Kesbum. PBF-ODLH gate will shit all over it.
Honestly you should have been banned a long time ago with your dumbass act, but I guess you have alias protection.
Like I said, who needs to worry about the gate, or ppv sales....if Frank Warren is in charge of the beer sales, he will break records, guaranteed
mayweather-DLH had 16,200 in attendance and made a live gate of 19 mio... which makes the average ticket price $1,172??? am i missing something here or is that including hotel, gambling and beer???
No, you're not missing anything. People are, indeed, willing to spend so much money to see Pretty Boy Floyd fight in person. Needless to say, when Calbum fights Kesbum $1,172 will be an average price of 500 tickets.
If he can lead with his right hand fast enough, it could be a long night for Calzaghe. Kessler has a hell of a right hand, he has a pretty good jab too but I wonder if he'll be able to use it efficiently against Calzaghe. Right now I favor Kessler just because he's younger and more technically sound, but Calzaghe is tough, agressive and fast. That will be a very good fight, not fight of the year quality IMO but it will have a lot of tension and possibly some drama, both guy can punch hard.
Nothing, it was a guess, and I'm not sure I'm right since you're always bullshitting. In fact, I'm not even sure you're another poster in disguise...
