I'll say Hopkins by MD in an uneventful fight.

    Hopkins by UD,

I'm almost tempted to say Draw, and the entire continent goes from the single most excrutiating sound of two men whining breaks the viewers' eardrums.

I like both these guys, Bernard is one of my all time favorites...Why do they have to fight? :dunno:

The judges look at their cards and decide that as expected no guy was dominant and call it as it should be...

    A draw!

I will go with Wright MD. Hopkins has to get old sometime.

    Hopkins by decision.

I woulda cared had this fight taken place 3-4 years ago at 160, but not now. Still, I think Hop is just a better fighter.

I think Hopkins's low workrate is going to hurt him (as it did versus Taylor) against the very busy Winky.

You can bet that Hopkins is gonna hold a lot, trying to get winky tired, but it will be interesting to see how he'll deal with winky's workrate/punch volume

Tough one to call. Wright could win it simply by throwing way more punches.

I'm interested to see how they match up physically.

I'll have a prediction later in the week.

your figrst line sums up my reasoning perfectly. Tarver has always been a scared joto who was gunshy, and Hopkins was all over it.

Winky on the other hand does make an effort to throw 50-60 shots a round, and even if he lants at 20% he'll be landing more than Hopkins

Winky via close decision. 7 rounds to 5 I expect. He'll be busier and his jab will be the cleanest punch that lands the whole night. Bernard will start very slow as usual, and Wright will get off to a good lead. Hopkins will catch up, and then down the stretch it'll be tit for tat, with Winky eeking it out.

I think had this fight been at 160 it would be a toss up.

Hopkins is proven all the way to 175. The reason the fight is at 170 is cause that's as high Winky can go. At least that's what he thinks. But I think it's pushing it already.

I always considered Hopkins a better fighter with more advantages over Winky. I think the weight in this fight will be a factor. When Winky losses the weight issue will come up.

Hopkins by TKO in the 10th....

Hopkins is the physically bigger guy. He looked very strong with the extra weight against Tarver. The much boasted Wright defense was utterly absent in spots against the smaller Quartey.

My thought is Wright's workrate will be a huge negative against a guy like Bernard who knows how to throw strong counter shots against southpaws.

Possibly the dullest matchup of all-time between two of the most un-exciting fighters ever:
One guy with great defence and no punch vs one really old guy with an ugly, dirty style.
And at 15lb higher than what they usually fight at.

I cant wait for this fight, granted both guys are not the most attack minded but they are quality boxers in their own way,

pre-2003 hopkins would've thoroughly whupped wright from pillar to post.

he rarely throws punches anymore, but at 170 pounds, i still think he has the advantage.

i'll be interested to find out if wright's still the favorite by the time i get to vegas on friday. i'm sure there will be some late $ coming in for hopkins.

Me either. I will download it and burn it on a dvd and watch it when I have nothing to do. I cant believe they are charging 50 bucks for this shit. If it were 10 bucks I may have considered it.

Hopkins SD, I think the fight will be controversial and people will bring up compubox stats to "prove" Wright won.
