Given this list, who would come out with the best record? What about the worst?

    Ike Quartey
    Shane Mosley
    Felix Trinidad
    Carlos Palomino
    Curtis Cokes
    Donald Curry
    Oscar De La Hoya
    Pipino Cuevas
    Ricardo Mayorga
    Vernon Forrest
    Pernell Whitaker
    Marlon Starling
    Cory Spinks
    Simon Brown
    Milton McCrory

*note: The omissions of Napoles, Hearns, Leonard and Robinson was done purposely.

    Where's Gerald Tucker?:dunno:

I put him in the same class as Hearns, Leonard and Robinson. Wanted a more competitive tourney.

Agreed. I didn't think about that.

Probably Curry. He's the best overall fighter on that list. Spinks & Mayorga would come out with the worst records of anyone on that list.

@147 i'd probably go with Tito.

  7. Xplosive

He'd probably be my second choice. Although, Tito would have his hands full with a prime Marlon Starling.

yeah. he'd have to go full throttle for sure. and would probably look silly at times. but Tito was good, especially at 147, at hitting moving targets.

True. The Starling that beat the fuck outta Honeyghan would be trouble for Tito. The only reason I give Tito a slight edge is cause A. Starling wasnt that tall and B. His defense consisted of blocking punches, which I'm not sure would work in the long run vs a welter Tito.

He'd also have his hands full with a prime Mosley. Theres other guys on that list though like Palimino, Cuevas, Brown, Forrest, who Tito would KO.

Why isnt Benitez part of this round-robin? At his best, I'd pick Will over anyone on that list expect maybe Curry.

I think Mosley would come out with the best of it, and IMO Starling would be worst for wear.

There are too many "punchers" in this group that would knock him senseless...I mean yeah Mayorga probably isn't gonna be the best of the lot and it'd be hard to say he'd get more wins than "gumby"

I think Mosley has the most trouble when hes in with someone bigger and stronger than he is. And there aren't alot or Vernon Forrest type of guys on this list, so i could see him winning 75% of his matchups or so.

i'd take prime quartey over mosley. seeing that forrest is in there, that's an automatic 0-2 for shane right there.

curry was probably best of them all.

Well Starling already beat Brown. At his best I think he outboxes Palimino, Cuevas, and outworks Forrest with pressure.

Trinidad comes out on top but would have close fights with Curry and Mosley.

At 147 the guy is like 35-0.

Trinidad would've fucked up Quartey.

i dont dislike tito. he was an incredible fighter.

i just think that he was beatable at 147 against other top fighters.

at 154, he was fierce, but at 160, again, he was limited.

at least you dont see me creating ridiculous threads like 'i was never impressed with Tito bandwagon' although i thought it was quite pathetic for this supposed great fighter to lose to Wright the way he did.

he made Wright look completely flawless in that one-sided schoolilng.

    Baron "Twinkle Toes" McJack

I know, I was just giving you a hard time. I hate excuses but Wright beat one of the worst version of Tito I've ever seen. He had no fucking fire and really made a disgrace out of himself, he had nothing at all. To stop doing about the only thing that seemed to bother Wright because he was deducted a point revealed his total lack of fighting spirit. Hopkins schooled Tito in his prime, no excuses there, but the one that Wright beat isn't the one I used to root for. I don't understand why he wants to come back, that's ridiculous.

he also grew his hair looked like a goof. he didnt look poised at all.

but because of the way he lost, i can't envision him doing that much better if they had met several years prior.

that would've been a major upset had it taken place soon after the vargas fight.

    Baron "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Well, It would be foolish to say that Tito would certainly win in his prime but I'm convinced he would have given a way better account of himself. I mean Wright had his hands full with Vargas and Simon, Tito was better than both at 154 IMO.

  23. joony

    joony "Twinkle Toes" McJack

styles make fights. simon wasnt one dimensional and he threw punches from all angles.

wright landed a lot of clean punches on simon too, but due to lack of his knockout power, simon was able to withstand and dish back.

tito on the other hand, wasn't as fluid nor was ever an extremely busy fighter. at 154, i'm not so sure. winky is pretty strong at 160 wheareas tito looked vulnerable.

I'm going to play Joony's game.

The way Quartey got fucked up by Fernando Vargas convinces me that he would get destroyed by Tito. Tito handled Vargas.

quartey was pretty damn fierce at welterweight in the mid-late 90s. trinidad on the other hand looked weight drained as you could see in his legs.

also, if you're gonna compare the vargas fights, i suggest you watch the de la hoya fights to see who did better. quartey was coming off long lay-offs in both fights.

oh, and i dont recall quartey getting 'fucked up' by vargas. that was a competitive fight.

My entire point was that you can't make comparisons based on common opponents like that especially when it comes to fights in different weight classes. Trinidad was a monster at welterweight Top 10 or Top 15 on most sports writer's All-Time list.

You brought up the Winky Wright bout which took place 5 years and 2 weight classes past Tito's prime in a discussion about Tito at 147.

Tito-Winky in 2005 has nothing to do with a discussion about a prime 147 pound Trinidad.

Stop being a shithead for once.

I also like how you fail to bring up that Quartey was nearly KO'd by Jose Luis Lopez, a classic underachiever. I see Trinidad beating both around that time fairly easily.

quartey outboxed lopez. that was a shit decision.

trinidad wasnt unbeatable at 147. that's my only point and i think quartey beats him at 147.

i dont really care, but your analysis throughout has been quite inept for someone who's calling me a shithead.

mythical matchup is mythical. dont get so offended mr.
