    Hopkins
Is it arguable he's a stinking cheater? The guy borederline puts his head down and charges like a rhino. Or he puts his head down, lunges at you while throwing a shot and then pulls a Ruiz. The rest of the time he's hitting and holding, grappling and wrestling. I know he's done this throughout his career but man this was bad and the main reason the fight was so ugly. I went in neutral but found myself rooting for Wright because of this mess. Also didn't Hopkins once boycott having Nady ref one of his fights? Now I see why. Because Nady doesn't let guys clinch. Also whatever happened to the nickname Snaggles?

    Winky
What happened to this guys skills? He used to work patiently behind a beautiful jab while taking almost no damage when attacked because of his high guard. Now he just walks guys down with an ugly downward chopping jab and basically just goes in & throws shots. I think he wanted to be more exciting but I find him a dumb fighter and Hops won the fight by being smarter during those portions where he wasn't cheating. Winky was so dumb I found myself rooting against him which made me neutral again.

    The Fight
Just a horrible fight in which I gave serious thought to walking out of after the first rd. You know you're in trouble when there is actually a high buy in to win money on a draw. Seriously, if you had to pick out of rewatching that fight or Floyd-Oscar could you make a choice without having to ponder it for more than 10 seconds? I now have no interest in watching Calzaghe fight Hopkins and give him a good chance to beat Wright.

My thoughts are that both looked there age, and fought like shit! Hopkins won cause he's better, and cause Winky fought more shittier.

Guys on here complain about every fight.
This fight was not boring Winky was very aggressive early on and B-Hop countered with some nice shots. Yeah the pace dropped in the later rounds. No doubt winky was suffering with fatigue but that too was always going to happen against the bigger Hopkins. The cut had to affect him too.

And what is the story with the judges scores, where do they get those guys, the local rehab center.

    PARTICULARLY Bernard...

His Balance was TERRIBLE....& he Looked VERY STIFF to REED....

Perhaps it was the 1 Year LAYOFF,but Bernard LOOKED his Age for the Very 1st Time,to REED...

Even when Bernard Started SLOWER N his Middleweight Days,he could STILL "Turn it On" when Needed & he Moved w/Some FLUIDITY...REED Never Really Saw that Last Night...

When Tito was beating the crap out of Joppy, Harold Lederman pointed out that the ring was spongy and that it limited Joppy's movement. Back on the old secondsout forums (which shut down due to some thing with Frank Warren), the poster "qwerty" posted a thread saying "Joppy lost because of the ring".

It's been a running joke since then.

Then when people would bring up good points about boxing Qwerty would always respond:

"wtff r u taklkling about?!!" ... always written with a variable amount of spelling errors.

He did have a robe on before the fight as I recall, yes. Shame he lost though, robed or not.

He can live to wear another robe.

Hopkins was the FRESHER of the two at the end and he, as usual won the MENTAL aspect of the fight. When did we EVER see Winky COMPLAIN constantly and seem dejected in a fight?

I like to see if Calzaghe can get his combinaions off with a Hopkins. He usually takes away his opponent's greatest strengths. When Trinidad, Winky, De la Hoya fought Bernard gone were the left hook, jab and speed respectively.

First off, I picked Wright to beat Hopkins with his workrate. I didn't feel Hopkins could sustain an attack enough to win more rounds. Well, I was wrong and I was real impressed with Hopkins stamina being 42. Wright actually faded more down the stretch than Hopkins. I also thought the scores were a bit wide. I thought it was closer than the scores were. I also think Winky fighting at 170 is far beyond his best weight, 170 was just too much for Winky's frame. It's the first time he didn't really look in great shape and had some man boobs. So props to hopkins for the win, I didn't expect him to outwork Winky down the stretch.

Perhaps it had something to do with all three making their careers at weight classes below where Bernard spent his entire career.

TKO, not sure how you could have liked this fight. It was a bad fight. I know this, I have it on my DVR and I will never watch it again. If we sit here and complain about HBO, promoters, and so on. This fight just took boxing that one step closer to that ever looming cliff of obscurity. Fights like this need to be squeezed off the air and allow for entertainment valued fights to be shown with more regularity.

I complained about Floyd/Oscar. But this fight falls shamelessly 14 miles behind Floyd/Oscar in entertainment value.

I am actually somewhat excited for Vargas/Mayorga:eeeek:

by the way, I always thought Qwerty was also The Cisco Kid. Did anyone else ever get that feeling?:dunno:

You called it man. I don't think many will complain though. I thought it was close but I have no complaints about the decision.
