Inspired by the X-Man's thread, naturally.

    BEST, not necessarily "greatest".

Heavyweight: Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis ( )
Cruiserweight: Holyfield, James Toney (again... )
    Light Heavyweight: Spinks, Charles
    SuperMiddleweight: Jones, Calzaghe
    Middleweight: Jones, Hopkins ( )
    Jnr Middleweight: Hearns, McCallum
    Welterweight: Leonard, Robinson
    Jnr Welterweight: Chavez, Aaron Pryor
    Lightweight: Duran, Mayweather Jnr
    SuperFeatherweight: Mayweather Jnr, Pacquaio
    Featherweight: Pep, Saddler
Below Featherweight: [I'm out of my element  ]

Editted to change: Ezzard CHarles instead of Jones at Lightheavyweight and Jones instead of Monzon at Middleweight.

thats a pretty good list. I don't see Jaws list.... I must have missed it:lol:. I wait with anticipation.

My only comment would be: Sly would you define your terms a bit? What do you mean best? Since you have something specific in mind.

Yes, Floyd Mayweather's four fights at lightweight against legends such as Castillo, Sosa, and Ndou ranks him with Duran . You fool.

What does "best" mean? Best resume/wins, best textbook skill/technique, toughest fighter, most talent, best haircut, what?

    Way too broad!

That's why I specified BEST and not necessarily "greatest". In a who beats who, it's Mayweather and Duran, IMO.

    Where's your list, tough guy?

The only fight at lightweight Mayweather even remotely looked good in was against Ndou clown. Mayweather was never that impressive. Obviously you mentioning him has more to do with your man crush then anything.

In terms of quality, how you gon rank Norris ahead of Jackson at 154, when Julian nearly killed him?

That one fight. Norris beat everyone in that division when he came to power. Jackson didn't hang around long enough and was himself folded over by a fighter who was undoubtedly his superior.

McCallum woulda knocked Terry's ass out too though. Norris ACCOMPLISHED more at 154 than did Jackson, but Julian was better and IMO woulda startced every fighter Norris beat during his reign. Pains me to say it, but Tito stretches Norris as well.

Tito stretches a lot of elite fighters at 154 including Norris. Why would it pain you to say that?

It's a shame that fight didn't actually take place a decade ago.

Were any of his fights at lightweight filmed?

The footage I've seen of him at welter is pretty grainy and short.

I'm measuring more on the tools he had and showed as a welter/middle, and the fact that nobody I can think of, has gotten significantly better as they moved up in weight. Robinson's body and skills at 135 would've made him devastating, and he did have some quality wins there.

It would've enhanced Trinidad's legacy for sure but unfortunately Norris wanted no part of Trinidad.

pbf don't belong at 135. and he don't belong at 130 either.

    130: Arguello and Chavez
    135: Duran and Leonard

pbf is NOT an all-time great. not at 130. not at 135. not anywhere.
