:notallthere: I thought he pretty clearly gave Wright 2 rounds that Hopkins won. Rounds 3 and it might have been 7. WTF was he watching. :kick: Also, Wright and Hopkins looked like crap. Hopkins looked old. Wright didn't seem to carry the extra weight to well IMO.
Harold announced his score card with alot of anger in his voice,he was being unprofessional tonight and refused to give credit were its due
All I know is that I know why they gave Kellerman this fight, he has the patience to handle it. Old man Merchant woulda been bitter as hell complaining his ass off bout this ugly fight!::
I don't know.Max started too lose it a little in the end but he hung in there I guess, smart move by HBO.
This thread is for you as well. No way that fight was a draw. 8-4 for Hopkins AT WORST. Wright only won 2 clear rounds.
Agreed. Bernard won that fight. It wasn't 9-3 or 8-4 like the judges RIDICULOUSLY had it, but 7-5 Hopkins was about right.
Hate to Say it,but wRONg KING's Infamous Scorecard Could Very Well APPLY to this Fight... "2 Rounds Apiece w/8 EVEN Rounds"... REED::
After BITCHING for about 5-6 Consecutive Rounds,Merchant would have LITERALLY Been SNORING During the Broadcast:: ... Lamps: "What's your Opinion,Larry?" Merchant: "Zzzzzzzzzz" THEN,him & Bernard would have Had a Pretty Good VERBAL Exchange,During the Post-Fight Interview... REED
At which point, Manny Stewart would chime in and say "Larry is now sleep, just as I expected. I was studying his eyes, and knew he would soon be sleep."
I've heard that quite a bit yesterday and today. Most have said the judges must be out of their minds to have Hopkins winning 9-3 on two cards.
but in all fairness, Bernard didn;t exactly CLEARLY win 8 rounds. I had 6 rounds that I marked close, with at least three that can easily go either way. I wound up with a card of 7-4-1 for Hopkins. I rarely score even rounds, but there was one where so little happened that I couldn't decide. Harold seemed to err on the side of Wright, which is natural since HBO hates Hopkins and will never forgive him for what went down prior ot the first Jermain Taylor fight (though why they remain in the Bernard business is beyond me). I thought it was ridiculous to suggest that Hopkins needed to sweep the last 3 rounds to pull out a draw.
Oh. He ripped on Steward in a pre-fight meeting, referring to him as an Uncle Tom in the midst of making several demands of the HBO broadcast team. He also remarked that after he beats Taylor, that DiBella will kill himself, just like his brother did, or something to that effect. He wasn't any better after the fight, demanding that The Ring magazine strip Jermain of their middleweight title and declare it vacant due to the controversial scoring.
And of course, all of this was reported with extreme bias on behalf of the HBO crew, who had ripped on Bernard for years prior to this. That was the darkest day in HBO broadcast history, IMO. The favouritism they showed DiBella and Taylor was disgusting.
yep, totally agREED. But that said, Taylor was their knight in shining armor long before that. Harold's been singing his praises from the moment DiBella brought him aboard.
