off 1 win over a slow ass, wide punching, no defense Mexican. Williams has some potential but jesus people are going overboard. Everyone won't fight Williams blah, blah, blah. Hell it's not even like he dominated Margarito, he won 115-113 on my card. He is a good fighter and could turn out to be a great fighter but people need to calm down with saying everyone will duck him. He did lose most of the rounds in the 2nd half of the fight and he also got a big ass cut. The guy has 1 DECENT win, people need to give it time and see what happens.

I agree, clowns like Bama boy claims Floyd couldn't win a round against that tall gimp.

Margarito ran out of rounds, clearly he was hurting that fool late and made it close.

Paul is a good fighter but incredibly overrated by now. And yeah Margarito was and still is overrated.

I agree he's still not proven. That doesn't change my opinion that he is big trouble for anyone at 147 with his height, his jab and the way he uses his size so well.

Paul Williams is Maurice Bloker with a chin and without the boxing skills.

Williams is a good fighter. He is a huge welterweight with good speed and great stamina. To beat him I think you have to KHTFO. Otherwise we wins by points with his workrate.

Beating Margarito is as good as beating Castillo or Corrales.
Maybe Williams should start getting compared to SRR .

If you are trying to refer to Floyd then you have no point and make mine better. Floyd has several good wins over a decent amount of time. Williams has.....1.

Nothing I actually lost 1k on that fight. That's OK though I won big on Hopkins over Wright. :bears: Still this thread isn't about betting. People are going apeshit over Williams when he's only really fought 1 good fighter who's style worked out for Williams.

I think a fighter with jarring power could beat him without knocking him out because he's relatively easy to hit and his pitty pat shit isn't always going to win him rounds.

In other words, you don't have to outland him to beat him on the cards. So, I could see someone like Cotto, Margarito, or Cintron getting the nod even if they were clearly outlanded by him.

That said, I do pretty much agree with your point. If you know a Williams fight is going 12 rounds, you expect him to get the nod against pretty much anyone without knowing more, except Floyd. I'd expect Floyd to outpoint him straight up. (Not a lock, but a guess.)

    It seems to always happen:lol:

I like Paul Williams. IMO he has tons of potential and the style to be very tough for ANYONE to beat at 147. But it is funny how one big win changes everyones opinion on a fighter.

Vernon Forrest comes to mind. When he beat Shane, guys on this board jumped his bandwagon faster than Mayorga could knock him out.

your so full of shit. you actually changed the stuff I said.

I said plenty of times that I asked about Solid cause I had never seen him. Somebody from Top Rank compared him to JMM. are you that slow that you can't understand that?:dunno:

Regardless you saying Floyd couldn't win a round against Williams takes the cake. that is beyond retarded. if your not retarded you should win an oscar for acting like one.

If you said you were joking after the second post thana maybe. but you tried to argue that shit to the death. Claiming anybody who disagreed with you was a Floyd Groupie.

and the only reason I dropped your name is because it fits on this thread. You should be banned for a week based on that stupid comment.

and next time you quote my stuff at least get it right don't changed to come across less dumb than you already do.

Yeah...I even heard that Mayweather wouldn't even win a round against him!! Talk about going crazy after one win.

I think some poster with a remakable resemblance to Marquez's boyfriend, said that one.

we've already seen the two best welter-weights fight. Margarito and Williams. i think they need to fight again in order to determine who is the best. but failing that, we have Williams #1, and Margarito #2. pretty good.

I agree with the rankings. For nothing else because Floyd is the real champ at 147. However, there is not that huge of a gap. Let's be realistic here, Floyd never fought anyone rated 2,3,4 or 5 to say he is that much better than them.

Williams is seen by many as having the toughest style for Mayweather to beat...that's why he is being "over-rated", despite him having not fought many elite fighters (and some would certainly argue he hasn't fought any).

So you didn't say that "no one under batam beats arce" or that "Bautista is another lumpia about to get schooled" before the Medina fight? You want me to find those post so that you can look stupid again?

I like Williams chances against Mayweather but I'm not sure about everybody else in the top 5,styles makes fights and I think Williams would be a nightmare for mayweather.I think that's why he's getting so much praise IMO

Mike alluded to this and Valdista as well: Sure against a slow loopy puncher Williams could stand in front all day and get there first, but how would Williams do against a guy who isn't standing in front of him?

Williams would not be able to hit someone consistently who didn't stand in front of him. Williams is pretty strong but I would like to see how he handles a guy like Hatton who would smother him.

People also tend to forget that Williams does not have much power.

IMO William's biggest asset is that he is young and might develop more as a fighter while being competative as a Welter. He could fill out and crack a bit harder... and I know I am probably in the minority in this opinion but if he pitty patted a but less and sat down on more of his punches he might actually become a stronger fighter.

No, he's getting ATTENTION. There's a HUGE difference.

The idea that his physical attributes and style could beat anyone in the division is not hyperbole.

Williams would be considered an underdog or even bet in most major matchups, INCLUDING a rermatch with Margarito.

Nobody has him ranked above Mayweather, the champion of the division.

How is being talked about being overrated? He is a top contender in the welterweight division...nothing more, nothing less.

Don't let 2 or 3 people exagerating things due to their own obvious bias speak for all Williams fans...and he's definitely my favorite fighter right now.
