To me, this is a good BAD card. Vintage Boxing After Dark. Is it possible Penalosa can pull off the upset? How about Bautista?
did you think Penalosa beat De Leon? i was reading in Ring magazine one of their writers say he thought the scoring in the fight was horrible. either way, Penalosa doesn't belong at 122. at 118, i think he's ultra dangerous and a great technician - very relaxed in the ring.
When I heard 120-108 I knew Penalosa was screwed from the beginning. Imagine, according to the judges he would have to have knocked down Plodder De Leon 6 times just to get a draw. :laughing:
that's a crazy statement. Jhonny is better than Ponce in every way. He is faster, more skilled - overrall a better fighter than that stiff. Maybe POnce hits harder but Gonzalez hits hard enough and combined with his skills makes him more dangerous. I'm not saying Peñalosa doesn't have a shot but it will definately be toughter than Ponce.
I actually agree that Jhonny is more skilled than Ponce for sure. However, Ponce actually has quicker hands than Gonzalez and unquestionably has a better chin. I do think Gonzalez should beat penalosa though. Ponce should beat Batista as well.
Penalosa was very impressive against De Leon, He seemed pretty small for the weight too but he more than held his own, it could have gone either way. Is Bautista any good?
Batista has some good offensive tools and can punch pretty well. Not a bad boxer either. However, his defense is lacking at times and his chin is questionable as well.
Gonzalez was impressive early on vs Vask, and I think Ponce {what an unfortunate name} needs bringing to Dublin. Bumhard can beat him in 2 fights time.
Peters couldn't entice the local slut with a wad of 20's and a bottle of Uzo. We'll have to make it worth Ponces time. good BAD matchups:bears: suprises me that they put both matches as the lightweights though. a HW fight or MW and above showdown to go with one of the fights would have probably suited me a bit better but I guess I shouldn't complainopcorn:
