getting brutally KO'd is embarassing however, getting severely outclassed over 12 rounds can be worse. in the case of hagler/hearns...hearns was a good enough boxer to have made that fight last the distance (and maybe even win) if he choose to fight tall and box instead of bombing away with hagler. tito had no chance whatsoever against hopkins and wright because he never proved to be a versitile fighter...everything with tito was predicated on his being able to overpower his opponents.
So now you are nostraumus? Tommy could've lasted the distance against Hagler is a certainty? So basically Hagler had no choice in the matter and if Tommy wanted to go the distance then that's what it would've been. I'm sure Tommy wanted to last the distance against Barkley or against Leonard in their first fight, but he probably chose not to and got KTFO. WHERE DO WE FIND THESE TITO HATERS. :notallthere: Cupey
Disagree, Hagler was all over Hearns like Kobe on a cheerleader. Hagler changed from his usual boxer-puncher style and attacked Tommy, probably because he knew Hearns would be so difficult to box due to his range and outside game. Hearns did try to box Hagler in the middle of the ring midway thru round 1, and was having some success, but Hagler cut him off and got him in the corner. By the time Hearns got off the ropes near the end of the round, his legs weren't the same. Of course, Manny will tell you that his legs were never the same since he got a rubdown in the dressing room.
if hagler had beaten leonard (officially) and fought hearns again, i think hearns would've possibly outpointed him.
you do this shit everytime, i dont give a fuck about roy jones, i dont like roy jones, you used to use the sig i had making fun of roy jones, throwing roy jones name into the shit doesnt effect me, i dislike him more than you
This thread is hillarious. As much as I love Tito, you guys need to get real. Sure, you can commend someone for trying to call out the best. But the same people praising Tito, are ones who make fun of any average fighter/bum/amateur for saying the same thing. Honestly, how many times have you seen/read an interview where some 12-2 kid calls out Bernard Hopkins, Manny Pacquiao, or Ricky Hatton, and thought to yourself, "Man, what is this idiot thinking?"
But when is your "average" fighter a 3-x world champion in three different weight divisions? Or your average fighter one of the few welterweight to ever capture the middleweight crown? Tito has earned that right. He can call out anyone he wants. C
He didn't collect THE middleweight crown; he collected A middleweight title from a guy who never had to unify. When he tried to unify that trinket with the two titles belonging to the longest-reigning titleholder in the division, he got comprehensively disassembled and humbled. Don King had a history of trying to screw Hopkins, and he thought Tito would blast him out. 1. Hopkins got a fight in Quito, Ecuador against a contender FROM Quito, Ecuador in the fight for the title vacated by RJJ. 2. Hops was given a gym with dog:shit: on the floor in which to train. 3. Hops was given insufficient time to acclimate. Quito has one of the highest elevations of any capital city in the world. 4. Flash forward to many years later, nobody wanted to unify with Hops until DK wanted to make it a cakewalk for Tito. Tito gets Joppy, a much easier fight, and Hopkins gets Keith Holmes, a 6ft2 lanky hardpunching titleholder. Why didn't Hopkins get the 5ft7 Joppy? Because Joppy was a guy who carried his hands low against a powerpuncher. 5. Tito crushes Joppy. Hops outworks Holmes. 6. In the unification bout, many thought Tito would bomb out the elder fighter. Hops, who now held two titles, wins pretty much every round and gradually picks apart Tito, ruining plans and gaining the unified title. Tito didn't win THE title. Hops did, and he did it the hard way: HE EARNED IT!!!!!
No he can't. He has gone 2-2 in the past six years. His two wins came over a C fighter at best and a fighter who has not had a significan victory over 147lbs. In his two losses, he was completely and utterly dominated. His last significant win occured over six years ago. He has one significant win at middleweight yet now he deserves to fight the universally recognized light heavyweight champion? Sorry, but your three time titleholder in three divisions who became one of the few welterweights to win a middleweight title is now an average fighter.
that multi-division shit doesnt mean much these days. tito calls out whoever he wants because of his popularity, not his boxing skills.
Tito beat some of the best fighters in the division. How people quickly forget that he beat Vargas, who already beat Winky Wright. Vargas was an A fighter who Tito destroyed. At middleweight his success rate is so-so, but when you've done what Tito has done you have the right to call out anybody you like. Cupey
Vargas was damaged goods out of the womb, and he didn't beat Winky:nono: Tito has no right to call ANYONE out because he folds when it gets close, or quits like a bitch to avoid fights in hoping a fighter will look bad then become "unretired". Case and point, now he wants Hopkins because he looked bad ....Pathetic. The guy gets beat soley by a jab for 12 rounds, EXPOSED.:: I see another tear jerker and a FOURTH retirement very soon
He didn't beat Winky? Hmm, maybe I'd better ask Boxrec.com if W means a loss. Grow up, he beat the man, and Tito beat the man that beat the man. Cupey
Why the hell is there 10 pages on Tito for? He's a has been, and wouldnt have beaten Hopkins a day in his life!
While your at it, check out Lewis/Holyfield Tito LOST to a JAB  He didn't beat the 'man". He DUCKED the man who beat the man, then cried like a bitch for no reason.
So what? People are bitching because Tito wants a rematch. Look he owes it to himself to try to beat one of the best middleweights in history. If he gets KTFO at least he tried. There is no shame in losing to Hopkins and Wright. Both proved to be p4p fighters. X if there is one thing Tito has is power! One well timed punch at any given time can ko a fighter even of Hopkins quality. If it happened to RJ it can happen to anyone. A puncher always has a punchers chance. Hopkins is not invincible.
