holyfield was old as fuck when toney kicked his ass. hell, i wouldnt have been surprised if byrd had stopped him.

maussa took some shots from harris early in the fight, but he beat harris' ass for the most part and knocked him the fuck out. it's not like he was ruined from that fight.

also the hook that hatton landed on maussa was right on the money.

i'm not saying hatton's some sort of a KO artist. i just think he's the heavier puncher than floyd.

I think Floyd's a better puncher than Hatton, but that doesn't mean I think Hatton's a bad puncher.

Besides, there's a reason guys back off Floyd as the fight goes on...he's giving them a reason to NOT press him. That comes in the form of guys getting hit with things they don't see and it's sharp, on point and it's heavy.

Mind you, I'm not fan of Floyd (Sly would attest to that) I just think he's a better puncher than Hatton.

Hatton is a heavier puncher, but Floyd is a sharper puncher. That's the way I see it.

Yeah I've seen it a few times, I have it on disk, it's a great fight. Corrales didn't look the same since, it took more out of him than Castillo.

Did Castillo look shot to you when he KO'd corrales in the rematch?

Musze I'll ask you again, what opponent has floyd taken out with 1 shot at 140 and above?

The answer is obvious. Ask yourself who Hatton has beaten that's better than anyone Mayweather has beaten.

Then ask yourself how Floyd would have fared against the same version of Castillo Hatton fought...lest we not forget...Mayweather beat Castillo twice five years ago.

The bottom line is, your entire point regarding Hatton and his alleged punching power/prowless is based on guys who have been beaten by other top level guys first. (Maussa - beaten by Cotto three years prior and Castillo - beaten by Floyd five years prior).

    True?

That fight from almost two years ago, prior to a year layoff and a near loss to a B - level fighter?

But so what? Maussa was hardly shot was he, hardly in brutal wars?

You think floyd could have taken Maussa out with 1 headshot? No way.

Early in their careers against bums, floyd was still having to hit opponents 100 times before he got a stoppage, hatton was taking people out with 1 shot.

I respect your opinion Musze and you are often right, but you're 100% wrong on this. I've seen almost all of their pro fights, and hatton is the harder puncher hands down.

Not only have his punches got more results, but you can just fucking see and hear how hard they are.

Hatton is not Julian Jackson, but he is a good puncher, at world level floyd's power is a little above average. Certainly not feather fisted, but definitely doesn't hit as hard as little ricky.

Chiqa and Neil are 2 of the biggest floyd fans here, I bet even they acknowledge Hatton hits harder.

Yeah that one. So what? Has castillo taken much punishment since? Has he been in a Morales style war since? No, of course not. Castillo looked completely unmotivated for herman, just as hatton looked with urango.

Hatton punches harder than Mayweather. Whats the argument or reason for it? Its about the only thing Ricky DOES do better than Floyd.

I guess it's all relative...seeing that Mayweather and Hatton turned pro the same year and Mayweather was fighting, beating and knocking out better guys in 1998 than Hatton was in 2004...

You'd have to expect that he'd (Hatton) have more KO's over lesser opponents than Mayweather. :dunno:

So Musze, on what grounds do you feel Mayweather hits harder? What evidence is there to back this up?

The only thing I can think of is that you're a complete floyd hater, therefore denying any advantages that hatton has, so as not to give floyd credit if he wins. OR if Hatton beats Floyd, you can say Floyd was beaten by a bum, that had no advantages on paper.

    Yeah.

He's a good drinker that Castillo.

I'll ask him about Mayweather-Hatton next time I see him, he'll probably pick Hatton.

Even if this were true, which I'm not sure it is. The margin between them isn't even big enough that it matters. I consider both pretty feather fisted.

Feather fisted guys don't stop world ranked fighters with 1 punch. (Although once in a while an aberration happens.) Hatton has proven more than one time that he's a good puncher.

How is hatton feather fisted? Did you see him blast castillo out with 1 shot, something a great puncher like chico couldn't do?

Did you see him KO Maussa with 1 shot? Something cotto and harris couldn't do? Is that something a feather fisted fighter does?

Some of you guys are fucking nuts I swear, hatton is a good puncher.

To even suggest that Hatton is feather fisted, is to state eronously.

Ricky Hatton says he is determined to make Floyd Mayweather eat his words when the two meet in their welterweight fight in Las Vegas on 8 December.
Mayweather has already kicked off the war of words ahead of the super-fight, labelling Hatton "fat" and "garbage".

But Hatton told Five Live: "Soon the talk stops and we'll be in the ring.

"In Vegas I did not meet anyone with a good word to say for him. The way he disrespects fighters, it's no wonder everyone wants me to knock him out."

Mayweather, considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in boxing today, will start the match as the overwhelming favourite, despite coming out of retirement to take the match.

But, while he says Hatton is in for a "rude awakening", the Mancunian insists he is happy for the 30-year-old American to keep bad mouthing him ahead of the fight.

"It is all water off a duck's back to me," he said. "He says the same about every fighter - I don't think he's been respectful to a fighter in his life.

"He has been bad mouthing me for months, even before the fight was signed, but I don't think anybody takes any notice of him anymore. I'll just put the ear-plugs in and let him get on with it.

"It really doesn't bother me at all. When you beat someone like that it makes it all the sweeter.

"The fact is, I don't think he liked me coming out to Las Vegas - his home town - last time out with 10,000 of my own fans and putting on a great show and earning a great win against Jose Luis Castillo. He didn't like that and has come out of retirement."

Anyone who says I haven't got a chance doesn't know what they're talking about - I've got a massive chance

    Ricky Hatton

And Hatton insists he can upset the odds and create what would be one of the biggest shocks in boxing history.

"He's claiming that I've never fought anyone like him before," said the 28-year-old.

"But he won't have faced anyone who pressures the way I can, I assure you.

"Look at the two fights he came closest to losing - against Castillo first time and against Oscar de la Hoya. Both those fighters put pressure on him and he didn't like it.

"Well I like to think I'm 'Mr Pressure'.

"Regardless of what I think of him as a person, as a fighter he is second to none. But ability and speed is only good against someone who lets you use it, so anyone who says I haven't got a chance doesn't know what they're talking about.

    "I've got a massive chance."

No fighter is invinsible but I think you are a joke. Quit crying in every Floyd thread about "I want to see Floyd KO'ed". Grow the fuck up, Floyd is greater than any of your heroes.

Its actually a very good comparison because Hatton is a deceptively good puncher... all the more reason I like to watch him when he performs like he did against Maussa. Floyd is an incredibly accurate puncher, but so is Hatton.

I still can't believe that people think this fight is a gimme for Floyd. Even if Hatton stinks the joint out a la Jawney Ruiz Floyd gets beat up en route to victory.. and if Hatton comes in sharp Floyd gets tested big time!
