We've had Oscar Floyd this year, Margarito - Williams, Cotto Judah, Hopkins Wright, Nonito bashing Chinny-anne, etc etc

Now on the horizon, in the very same year we've got Hatton - Floyd, in all likelyhood Cotto - Mosley and maybe Judah - Margarito.

These are good matchups, especially all in 1 year.

All we need is Pacman to crush a few more bods, and it'll be the best year in years :bears:

Shit how could I forget Pavlik - Taylor and Vargas - Mayorga too.

Vargas V Mayo should be fun, but Pavlik V Taylor is an excellent matchup, I am looking forward to it. Pavlik KO's Taylor.

What was the last year you remember to be as packed with good matchups as this?

Remove this fight! It was bullshit and a failure to boxing regardless of the ppv #. Oscar did all the fighting that night and as usual Mr pot Shotter stunk the place out. Horrible fight!

It was not a great fight, but it was what I expected. Floyd pot shotting and oscar shuffling around after him. Oscar fought stupid anyway, didn't even maintain the jab when having success.

Still, it was a BIG match up, so it is worth mentioning.

I really don't think Floyd would've beaten a young Oscar. Just my opinion. 35 year old inactive Oscar and Floyd still looks mediocre in his hit and run tactics. Oscar with a working jab would've taken care of him. Oscar from the Tito fight would've beaten this overrated pot-shotting f*cker.

I agree, that was a close fight. A younger, motivated oscar with a dedicated jab would have beaten floyd.

Even Neil, who is welded to Floyd's scrotum admitted after the fight that Floyd wasn't as good as he thought, as the fight with "a part time boxer/promoter" was closer than it should have been.

    He seems to have forgotten.

Shit, we've got Calzaghe - Kessler too.

It's been a LONG time since this many quality matchups.

This year has more than 2000 and 2001.

Pacquiao/Barrera II is ready to go too I believe? Then we also have Sam Peter vs Maskaev for the WBC title. And I don't think Peter is going to have an easy time as most are suggesting.

Totally Agree. What a piece of crap! I cant wait until he gets KTFO! He is horrible. Boxing is much better without him. He will make anyone who has a slight interest in boxing to forget about boxing for good.

I look forward to Pacman V Barrera 2, it should be another fun beating but IMO it's not a great matchup.

Barrera wasn't competitive the first time, and pacman has only got better since, so I don't believe it'll be competitive this time either. Just another savage beating for Marco.

True but it still took Pac 11 rounds to end Barrera the first time. And Barrera may have completely underestimated him, just like 99% of boxing fans did. If Barrera is focused and now realizes the task at hand and what he's up against, I think he's going to put up a better effort. I don't see him being wild like Morales did in the 3rd Pac fight and just trying to stand toe to toe. I think Barrera is going to box and punch, slip and move. That doesn't mean he'll win but I think he'll give a better account of himself than last time. I'm still looking forward to the fight. Pacquiao always comes ahead like a freight train. I bet LATIN is really pulling for Barrera.

thing is Barrera's defensive boxing won't work against Pacquiao. Pacquiao's fast feet and unrelenting aggression are too much for Barrera's sporadic jabs and slow circling. And unlike a guy like Juarez or Peden, Pacquiao will not be tamed. Thus, Barrera has no choice but to fight Pacquiao. and in that he has no chance. Throw in Pacquiao's improved right hook that was nearly non-existent in their first fight, and Pacquiao's improved ability to throw going backwards (again, his right hook), I see no way Barrera can win or even make it competitive.

Barrera lacks real 1 punch power, he's going to have to work like hell for a victory. Can he do it? We'll see!

Good work Hanzy, you almost made me think Barrera would be competitive.

Then I suddenly realized he wouldn't, and that he's going to get savagely beaten by the Pinoy Warlord  :bears:

I still think it's a tougher fight than people are expecting. Should get some good action before the inevitable. Afterall, Barrera looked good against Juan Manuel Marquez, he looked quick and slick and was throwing some nice looking shots. I didn't understand the scorecards at all but either way, Barrera looked good against an A class fighter.
So not all hope is lost on Barrera's chances against Pacquiao.

i agree. he did pretty well against JMM. but it's because JMM is a boxer. he obliged Barrera, and let him control the pace too much. Pacquiao won't ever do that. still, one thing's for sure. Barerra can't do any worse than he did the first time around. And Pacquiao is bound to be over-confident and could take him lightly if he's stupid, in which case, Barrera could surprise him.

I think just as long as it's a fairly competitive fight, we should be happy. I'll have to decide on the day if I'll buy it on ppv.

You guys also forgot something crucial. Barrera did knock Pacquaio on his ass in their first fight so he's obviously got the punching power to get the job done if he plays it smart.
