lookin forward to seeing Celestine fight - but isn't Lacierva shot?

it's cool that Celestine is fighting on Showtime tomorrow night. i still haven't seen him fight, but it sounds like he's a beast in there. but isn't his opponent completely shot? and if so, why the fk is he fighting him?

does anyone think Celestine could beat either Marquez or Vazquez?

It's a showcase for Caballero. He's fought good enough fighters that he is entitled to 1 anyways.

 

a showcase is one thing, but when you KO your opponent in the 2nd round after hurting him in the first, and the opponent hasn't had a meaningful win in years, i think it does more harm than good for a fighter's reputation.

plus, it's a chance to make a statement, which he certainly does NOT stand to do against the likes of Lacierva. the winner of Marquez/Vazquez can justifiably ignore Caballero if he so chooses, whereas if he took on and beat someone tough, there'd be no denying him.

oh well. i just hope it goes more than 4 rounds.

Caballero already has earned a shot at the winner by beating the Thai champ, Ricardo Castillo,Ponce De Leon and demolishing Valbuena (who Vasquez struggled with). This fight is purely meant as a showcase for Caballero to look good and fight marquez if he wins. There is no other fighter at 122 who deserves it more.

 

you think Marquez will fight him? what about Vazquez if he wins?

If Vasquez wins there will probably be a 3rd fight with Marquez. If Marquez wins he needs someone else to fight and Caballero makes sense.

 

I agree that Caballero's deserving, but I wonder if this fight ending up on Showtime has more to do with Lacierva being a Gary Shaw fighter.

Caballero isn't exactly a marketable fighter, so I wouldn't be surprised if Shaw would prefer to put Marquez in with next week's winner, instead.

 

Is Caballero really 5'11? Holy fuck, he must be the tallest 122 pounder ever.

Do Shaw and ODLH work together? Shaw and ODLH probably not on the friendliest of terms after ODLH tried to steal Corrales when he was still signed with Shaw. I believe there was a lawsuit or some shit to. I see Marquez-Caballero if Marquez wins.

 

Isn't Vazquez co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions (and Sycuan)?

 

Apparently so going by the Golden Boy website. I thought he had left them. Caballero is with Sycuan as well I believe.
