Dude...Margarito wasn't THE perceived threat at Welterweight, but Oscar WAS the perceived threat at 154lbs because Ouma and Wright were no longer there.

Floyd missed Hatton at 140, but that's it compadre!

False Alydar. Tszyu and Hatton were the biggest threats at 140, and he didn't fight them. Margarito and Mosley were the biggest threats at 147, and he didn't fight either of them. Oscar coming off a gift to Sturm, TKO loss to hopkins and beating Mayorga would not make him the biggest threat at 154.

I'm not saying those fights should've happened, because IMO Floyd has been right to go after Baldomir and Judah and Oscar, but its fair to say he hasn't taken on the biggest threat since Castillo.

Margarito was (and still is) more of a perceived threat than Baldomir.

He just wasn't the true champion there.

Ignoring knowledge and indulging in echolocation.
:nono: Baldomir is not a threat fullstop,..FULLSTOP,... he's a small welterweight, with no speed, power, stamina, or skills, and he's 40 years of age,..with 10 losses to his credit... and Fraud fans want to fight about it?.

Well that's the point. Floyd fought THE CHAMPION and so shouldn't be crticized. Soon after that he went up and fought De La Hoya was was ALWAYS perceived as a bigger threat than Margarito.

The point is..this "Floyd ducked Margarito" shit is ludicrous and needs to stop.

Not at that time Roy wasn't, because Tito and Mosley were doing the same thing Roy was only more impressively and that was beating up on B-level fighters. At least Mosley and Tito were KOing they're tomato cans and showing people they were in a different class. Roy was pitty patting and playing it safe.

Anyway my choice would be ODLH. He was fighting the best at 147 but close fights with Quartey and Whitaker that were borderline draws isn't the stuff of p4p #1's.

at least Mosley had an impressive DLH victory at the time when he was #1

Close call between Oscar & Shane.

What's crazy is that Mosley was, at that time, considered unbeatable. Ah, hindsight.

Oscar earned the top rung for his victory over Whitaker (and Jones' DQ loss to Griffin). Don't think that win shoulda given him the #1 ranking.

Only the haters picked floyd...not anyone objective and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that one of the admins fixed the poll to reflect this, because I don't believe for one second that 14 people from this site would have picked Floyd.

hell the responses on this thread don't reflect that.

Tito runs him close but you gotta give it to Tyson. His resume 86-88 isn't as bad as some say but no way a less glamourus fighter from a less glamourus division beats 6 or 7 fighters of that class and winds up at No.1. He'd be hovering around 8-10 which is where Mike probably belonged.

There's something odd with the poll, that's for sure. I've just logged on after some fifteen hours and it says, "You have already voted in this poll".

    News to me! :dunno:

When he was talked about as the p4p#1 :dunno:

When did Pea supercede him at that time :nono: Pea lacked power. p4p is taking the atributes you have and mythically matching them up in other weight classes. Toney was reigning back then, Pea lost to Oscar......if that's not inconsistant I don't know what is.....

I cannot agree. The way Tyson cleaned up and dominated boxing's best division, knocking out all but a couple and demonstrating in every fight that he was BOTh the fstest handed and the most powerful fighter P4P..he was very deserving of the Number 1 spot.
