<!-- message --> Boxing World Champion Kermit “The Killer” Cintron got past his latest title challenger with ease, looking powerful in knocking out Walter Mathysse, a challenger with a record of 26-2. Likewise, UFC MMA champion Sean 'The Muscle Shark' Sherk did his part also and defended his UFC lightweight title for the first time at UFC 73 with a unanimous decision win over Hermes Franca, a challenger with an 18-6 record. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/...4327&zoneid=13 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_Sherk Now that all that "preliminary" business is out of the way, it’s time for UFC president Dana White to make good on his boasts that he controls the best fighters in the world, and step up to the challenge laid down by IBF World Champion Kermit Cintron for a winner take all match with the UFC champion. A Sherk - B.J. Penn fight would be great, but a two-sport challenge match with Cintron would be much bigger, world wide. Like Sean, Cintron also has other lucrative options at his doorstep too. This fight however, would bring the worlds of Mixed Martial Arts and Boxing together for a blockbuster event that will certainly outsell UFC 73, and more importantly, will put an end to the tiresome debates about which type of champion will win. That fight will mark the first time a decent Boxer has ever stepped into the rules of Mixed Martial Arts, and because the challenge has been thrown down, the buck stops here. Lets' roll. <!-- / message --><!-- controls -->
HOW much is the UFC paying KERMIT CINTRON???? Cause Sean Sherk is the LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION at UFC and he got paid a LOVELY $16,000 for his last title defence and PPV appearance..!!! :bears:NOW THAT IS GREAT MONEY....
Dana White never offered Cintron any fight. He is not going to offer Cintron a fight and this fight is not going to happen. I don't know why people keep talking about it as if a fight was offered to Cintron. A fight was offered to Floyd and Floyd only.
How much did Kermit make for his last fight? He was the undercard (like Sherk), but I'm sure he made more than $16k. Matthyesse made somewhere from $20-$30k.
No it isn't. Cintron didn't even call him out. He just said he would take the same deal they offered Floyd. Well, that deal isn't on the table for Cintron. Dana White calls the shots anyway. If he doesn't like the fight it isn't happening whether or not Sherk did want it. With that said, Kermit would get his ass kicked anyway.
Cintron, who will defend his championship against Walter Matthysse on July 14 in Atlantic City, said he'd be willing to fight Sherk after that. "I want the fight," said Cintron, who is 27-1 with 25 KOs. "I can wrestle. I can box. I can beat those UFC fighters at their own game. Tell Mr. White to make me an offer and I'll take on his guy after I fight Matthysse on July 14."Cintron went on to win the fight by KO 29 seconds into the second round with total dominance. It should be noted that Matthysse was never knocked down prior to this fight but got knocked down twice before the knockdown that caused the KO. cintron by brutal ko in the 1st.
The offer to Mayweather made sense because he's recognized as the top P4P fighter in the world. The world has never even heard of Kermit Cintron. TFK
Yep, that's exactly it. The UFC would have to pay substantially more than they pay their top guys to secure Cintron a guy who nobody outside of hardcore fans knows about. Sherk made like 16K or something equally pathetic in his last fight against Franca. Does anyone think Kermit would fight for that money?
.. it sounds like you dont want this fight to happen for some reason.... dana white wants to prove to the boxing world that ufc champs are the best fighters. we know who cintron is and thats all that matters.there's no reason for this fight not to happen.
well, Cintron is partly to blame for it because he keeps responding to the challenges thereby legitimizing them.
Why wouldn't I want this fight? I think it would be a boost to both fighter's careers, as the media circus aspect of it would make them both household names. But, with Sherk failing his post fight drug test, and most likely about to be suspended for a year, this fight ain't gonna happen. TFK
Just out of curiosity. I always here the mma guys wanting the boxer to fight them under their rules, has anyone ever heard a MMA guy offering to fight a boxer in boxing rules?:dunno: Maybe 6-8 ounce gloves?

I know, :: I was just playing the devil's advocate Although something tells me Fedor could hang with a few top ten HW's in boxing.:dunno:
UFC lightweight Champion who gets paid $14,000 for his last PPV fight, recently got caught using steroids fine a few thousand bucks...there was talking about fighting Floyd Mayweather but on MTV Cribs Mayweather threw around more money than Sherk makes in a year......ohh the talk was about fighting Mayweather in the octagon.....
