I'm surprised this isnt discussed more. These two fucks potentially pulled the biggest jib in boxing history, yet none talks about it. Was it fixed? It sure appeared so. It seemed like a sparring session until the 9th when B-Hop said "this is my round" and goes out and stops Oscar with the most bullshit body shot KO you'll ever see. Few weeks later and these muthafuckas become business partners. The fight SCREAMS fix, so was it?

The fact that it was indeed, a pathetic shot to the body and then what was it.....a month later, Hopkins is signed to Golden Boy Promotions and the guys are major buddies.

Does make you think about 'fix' or 'conspiracy'.

But then - hasn't that always been part of boxing? :dunno:

I have re-watched the body shot over and over again. And it dosent look that hard of a shot. I have watched boxing for over 20 years now, and I have seen some butal body shots, but this one dosent seem to have been that hard of a shot to ko a fighter like Delahoya.

I don't know, I wasnt the one taking the shot but it does seem like it was fixed.:dunno:

Maybe not fixed in the general sense of the word, but yeah, DLH fixed himself a nice bed in the ring to fall in when the pressure became too much for him to handle. He was planning to quit in one way or another if things didn't happened the way he wanted to. You can all ask to a boxer if his reaction (DLH's) to the body shot was a normal reaction when you get the air punched out of your lungs, and his answer will tell you...

Oscar just bitched out. It was a case of him knowing that he couldn't beat Hopkins and as such, took the easy way out, rather than take his beating like a man.

Oscar laid down, plain and simple. Nothing more nothing less.

    THIS is correct.

But the fight wasn't fixed going in. Oscar genuinely tried to win the fight until Hopkins stepped it up and then he just quit.

And then Oscar has another sparring match with Floyd where they both pitty pat each other to death and both come out of the fight without so much as a bruise on the check.

Another potential fix that I thought as I was watching it was Tarver-Jones III. Roy was bitched up and Tarver just let him off by barely engaging him.

But then again Oscar could have made history beating Hopkins. I don't know if a fighter in Delahoya's caliber wuld have laid down like that. Only Oscar knows if he laid down or not. I would like to think he didnt.

If you can look at the video and see where the punch hit, it MAY have indeed been a legit shot. Looked like a good rib shot.

Roy-Tarver III wasnt a fix. Roy coulda won that fight if he had only let his hands go more, but he was too intimidated by Tarver's punch to do so. Simple as that.

But it was Tarver's reluctance to take Roy out that looked so fishy to me. There were even times in the fight where it looked like he just let Roy off the hook. Then in the post fight interview he practically gets pissed at the notion that Roy didn't put up a fight. I'm not saying this is 100% what I believe just that it looked real fishy to me at the time.

right, the way he almost fell out of the ring when throwing a punch seemed fake. Like some tactic to give Roy time to regain strenght.

When I first saw it I thought the same thing. The thing is, Hopkins punched De La Hoya to the body with his palm facing De La's ribcage. Its not like Hopkins turned into the shot with full force. '

However after sparring I realized even little shots to the body burt. But at the same time I've always been suspicious that De La Hoya quit IMO, just by the way he reacted to the punch.

I agree! Thats what has me suspicious as well. Hopkins never turned on the punch with full force.

I don't think it was fixed, DLH could have been breathing hard and exhaled at the precise moment he was hit. I don't think he could breathe for a few seconds, that takes so much out of you, it may change the notion in your mind to get up on count of 8 having that feeling, so he may have quit for a few seconds.....but those few seconds went into 10, so it was too late to muster up some confidence, hence the pounding of the gloves on the canvas.

what about the girl-like screams? If you can scream, you can clearly breathe, so that automatically exposes him as a diver.

When you are relaxed and get hit there while you are breathing out, it takes alot to try and feel your lungs back up with air and start breathing again normally because you are tensing up in pain while trying to breathe, like I said, he probably quit for a couple of seconds when he got his air back, but only had a couple seconds left to make up his mind to continue.....then it was too late and pounded his gloves. That's how I saw it....

yup hopkins saying "this is my round"...and a few seconds before the phony body shot landed someone from Hopkins corner was screaming..."body shot..body shot...body shot..ohh yeah..body shot"...

    DLH was a terrible actor...

    Roy MADE Tarver Somewhat "Reluctant"...

Can't Remember what Round it was,but Fairly EARLY N the Fight,Roy HURT Tarver w/an Uppercut...

    Even TODAY,Roy's HANDSPEED,COUNTERpunching Ablilities & Power CAN'T B Underestimated:nono: ...

If U have a Glencoffe Johnson Type of Chin, then it MIGHT B Worth it to Take Whatever Roy can Dish Out, just to Land your Own Shots...

But Tarver DOESN'T Have that Level of Punch Resistance...It PAINS REED to Give Tarver CREDIT,but he Actually Fought a SMART Fight N the Rubber Match w/Roy...It would have Been VERY EASY to B OVERconfident N Tarver's Situation...

Roy HURT him w/an Uppercut w/his Back AGAINST the Ropes,if REED's Not Mistaken...

As Much HARM as Tarver has Done to Roy PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY,he Still KNEW that he COULDN'T Play Roy Jones "Cheap"...That's Why he Fought the WAY he Did N the 3rd Bout...

& Roy VALIDATED Tarver's Suspicions,N Isolated Situations During that 3rd Fight...& After Tarver HURT Roy N Round 11,he was COMPLETELY GASSED...

What Disappoints REED the Most is that Roy COULD have Registered a Come from Behind,12th Round KO Over his Nemesis...
