jones should be favored, but imagine if tito somehow knocks him out. the possibility of tito around 160-168 is endless. calzaghe regardless of either he wins or loses will call him out for sure. shit, maybe sven ottke would come out of retirement. there's also jermain, hopkins, and even oscar.

a win for jones wouldnt really do much imo.

Trinidad is still a huge international star. Whenever you combine Trinidad and another great fighter you will have good ppv numbers.

I doubt Ottke even knows who Trinidad is. If you asked him about Tito, it´s mroe likely he would start talking about the Yugoslavian dictator.

I disagree.....HBO PPV will most likely carry fight and if Roy wins, he'll have momentum to set up fights with other HBO hacks (Hops II or Calzaghe). Also with box office numbers, the likelihood of Roy/Glen II being put on HBO for big money goes up as well.

As much as it pains me to say it being a diehard RJJ fan, a Tito win by KO would be the best result for boxing. It would really make the Middleweight divisions interesting. An RJJ win would be expected and would be meaningless. But it aint gonna happen...

Tito can't fight at 154/160 any longer so you must be talking about 168-175.
Do you think Tito matches up better with the likes of Calzaghe, Taylor, Kessler, Hopkins, etc? I'd rather see Roy in the mix.

good point. But would a RJJ win (which is expected by way of mismatch) really thrust him into discussions with the likes of Hopkins. Taylor etc?

I think it would because a win would make Roy a hot(tter) commodity, and let's face it, fighters fight for money (not glory and belts).

Roy is on the outs with HBO, but a win in front of a possible huge PPV audience would help mend things....and in turn help bring some of the aforementioned fights together.

It goes without saying of course that a Tito victory would also result in other possible significant events as well (Hops II, Taylor, Calzaghe, etc.)

I think Hoya is out of the immediate mix because if Tito could make 160 right now, he would've gone after him instead of Jones.

If this fight lands at the Garden, the atmosphere will be crazy....I can't remember the last time Roy fought in front of a hostile crowd.....interesting to see how he'll react, although Jones' fanbase in NY is pretty strong as well.

That was way out of line, REED. That's an offense of the suspendable-type, and you know it.

Joony, you too - knock it off.

    As for this fight.....good Lord.

    Tito, please, please....stay retired.

The fight has some intriguing factors when you actually break it down due to the fact that it's happening in 2008...

    But who cares.

These guys should quit and not tarnish their legacies further, either of them.

They have nothing left to prove.

    I'm glad someone remembers....

    Gerry, Gerry, GERRY!!

He's been a personal fave of mine for years....and I gave him a very good shot to beat Jhonny if he was able to get to the late rounds where Gonzalez would tire - esp. since making 118 was a big drain.

But I picked Jhonny to outpoint him.

    Props to Penalosa!
