Whoever doesnt think Roy was a devestating puncher at 160-168 is crazy!

And to continue with the list, I forgot to list Edwin Rosario. He shoulda made my original list. Chapo was arguably the biggest puncher at 135 ever, and had very quick hands.

Roy's power at 160-168 was BETTER than Tito's ever was. Roy iced guys with single shots! And no, not just bums. Thomas Tate, and Sugar Boy Muligna were good fighters with reputations for having great chins, and Roy took them both out with one left hook. He also fucked up Sosa in 2 rounds, and Sosa also had a reputation for having a great chin.

What good fighter did Tito ever take out with ONE punch? The answer is zero. Tito could fuck guys up, and put them on queer street with one punch, but rarely did he end fights with just one punch.

In terms of one-punch power, Roy at 160-168 was a better puncher than Tito. Over the years he's become so well known for his speed, that some of y'all forget the way Roy stretched cats in his early days. Hell coming into the Toney fight, only two previous opponents had gone the distance with Roy, and they were Hopkins, and Castro.

Nigel Benn did throw pretty damn fast power punches. Those hooks were sloppy as you like, but they sure did swing round quick, Tyson style, just much sloppier technique.

Funny, I never thought of McClellan as a fast fighter. You make me wanna check out some of his fights again.

    Nigel Benn, FOR SURE though.

Naseem Hamed as well of course.

David Tua had faster hands than given credit for also.

Trinidad has faster hands than given credit for, I agree, but it's a STRETCH to include him on this list.

Bullshit. Tell me again who Roy iced or even hurt so bad at 168. Sosa was clearly over the hill when he fought Roy. Roy was a decent puncher but ya'll are severly overrating his power. I guess iceing someone like Pazienza proved your point right?

    Whatever,Dog...

N the YEAR-END Issue of Ring Magazine(95 or 96),Ring Did their Division BY Division Breakdown...

@ Lightheavy,Merqui Sosa was Listed as "Most Exciting" & "Best CHIN"...He May have even Been Listed as "Hardest Puncher",but REED Can't Recall...Roy KO'ed Sosa N 96 or 97....

To Take it a Step Fuuuuuuuurther,Ring ALSO Annointed Sosa as "THE Best CHIN N ALL of Boxing",PRIOR to Roy KO'ing him...

WHEN Sosa Received All of these Accolades, his Very NEXT Opponent was Roy Jones AND it was THE VERY 1st Fight Roy EVER Had @ 175...& he WIPED his ASS w/Sosa...

    Roy's Credited w/Being THE 1st Person to EVER Drop Sosa,Nevermind STOP him....All the While,Sosa was MUCH Bigger & Stronger than Roy,had a GattiESQUE Rep & FORCED Roy N 2 a SLUGFEST...

N Other Words,Roy WAXED Sosa on SOSA's Terms...

It's your PREROGATIVE to HATE on Roy,but @ Least have MERIT N your Argument,Dog...

Whether Ring rated Sosa's chin best in the universe doesn't change my opinion of Roy's power. What does though is me reassessing him. After rethinking it, Roy did have very good power, maybe even devastating at the lower weights. What I failed to realize was the fact that he was too often reluctant to utilize it to it's most effectiveness. Roy became much more focused on minimizing the damage he recevied rather than the damage he was dooling out.

Also I agree the Sosa fight was an awesome one by Roy. It used to be one of my favorites to watch and like the 2nd Griffin fight does show how powerful Roy was when he commited to his power. So I was wrong, Roy was a powerful puncher he just chose not to employ that power to it's most effectiveness. I remember how apologetic he was for KOing Griffin in 1 rd.

Agreed. I think we're starting to stretch a bit too much here....

Jose Luis Lopez? When I think of very good/great handspeed AND power, I don't think of Maestrito at all.

G-Man doesn't come to mind either....and Benn is borderline.

RJJ at 160 and 168? Definitely. Anyone who disagrees is delusional (I love you, lb. 4 lb. ).

No doubt alot of RJJ's power came from his speed and angles - opponents simply could not see it coming. But it's impressive what he could do to opponents - when he really wasn't even sitting down on and committing to his punches fully.

    Peace.

I can't think of too many to add. Maybe Corrales. His handspeed on the inside was VERY fast, with his combinations.

The fighter who I believe had the best combination of speed and power of any other fighter is about a 1995 Roy Jones Jr.

Still pushing your ridiculous "Mayweather was bigger than all of his opponents except for De La Hoya" theory?

:dunno: Why is it so ridiculous?,..he towered over his welterweight opposition. Fraud wasn't even "drastically" smaller than De La Hoya.

It's a mere hypnotism I'm afraid erratic, the vague subconcious spur of his nickname "lil Floyd" combined with the WAY HE FIGHTS like the smaller man, bitch tendencies, but really, one should focus that he's a ''rangey monster" a solid 5"9 with a hyper extensive reach-------------------------------<

He has longer arms than a lot of his opposition, and is reasonably tall.

His frame is still not that big. He was not bigger than guys like Corrales, Castillo, Baldomir, Ndou....no matter how much you would like to claim otherwise with your disturbing obsession.

    Floyd being a solid 5'9?

    Maybe in platforms or something.

He was reasonably tall for the small weight classes he's in, but in general he's a rather short guy.

:nono: I'm not saying that he was victorious against those opponents due to his size alone (though he wasn't victorious against Castillo), I think it's fair enough to say he was not bigger per se, but, he wasn't SMALLER either, there's nothing "LIL" about Fraud at any weight he's presided to cherry pick, apart from his temporary pre-scripted endeavor at 154. :nono:

That illegal shoulder roll shit during critical offensive moments by his opposition, coupled with running the clock out, is what takes the fight away from any dangerous opponents he'll ever fight.

Baldomir has a bigger frame than Mayweather. He's not as tall, but his frame is bigger. Same with Castillo.

Corrales had 3 inches on Mayweather in height and 10 lbs on him on fight night.

Naar, Baldomir has a head the size of Sam Peter, on a lightweight body, an extra testment is to his lack of power, Corrales was a string bean, 3 inches into the thickness of Fraud would proportionally make them the same size, Castillo's of equal size, he, along with Corrales and Fraud couldn't make 135 eventually, and no in Fraud's case it wasn't just a matter of optionally moving up, "I can't make 135 anymore" - directly from the horses mouth.

 Well, have you read some of the OTHER names that have popped on here?

Ok, I'll retract on McCallum and Finito, barely....

But Toney @ 160 belongs, period.

And btw, I added Joe Louis - who should definitely be mentioned as a HWT.

    Peace.

Mayweather was NOT drastically bigger than his opposition at any weight....and more importantly, he never implemented a style that leveraged his supposed size/strength factor.

He has never weighed all that much more than the limit on fight night.

ANd DLH did look bigger than PBF, no doubt about it.

    Peace.
