Black people (afro-americans) stopped backing up their own fighters since Larry Holmes became champ. They don't have that pride for their own fighters anymore. I think it's because they've become more supportive of black athletes from their own city/state. Maybe is Roy had been from NY, his own people would've respected him more.

Roy Jones, in his prime at about the time he fought James Toney.....was as good a fighter as I have ever seen in my life.

I get alot of flack for saying this,....but I think that THAT Roy Jones would beat anybody in middleweight history.

The only fighter in history that I would give an even chance against a prime Roy Jones is Robinson.

That should explain it all right there.

A prime Jones would have sliced Marvin Hagler to ribbons. Hagler NEVER fought anyone with the blazing sppeed and reflexes of Jones, and the only one who came close was a past his prime Leonard who was a slug compared to Jones at that point.

Well he was a guest during a post-fight show alongside Teddy Atlas and Bob Papa after the DLH/Mayweather fight and the topic suddenly turned towards Jones and this black sports-host tore Roy up, saying Roy fought nothing but bums and part-time workers.
So there's one example of a 'brother' hating on Roy and it's completely unrelated to skin colour. The guy's just giving an honest opinion on Roy and seems that he wasn't impressed at all with many or most of Roy's opposition.
Apparently he doesn't like Roy even considering Roy is his 'brother'.
