I remember waking up and reading it on the boards and going

then cupey uploaded the KO... "Holy shit!"

Reed then ran from the boards. Oh I forgot, his internet connection "went". It also "went" in his entire town because he couldn't get to an internet cafe even.

 

Fixed.

 

I was devastated I wont lie. I was miserable for days. I just couldn't Adam and Eve it!

 

Very surprised.

 

Ah, now it makes sense.

I was undoubtedly devastated the moment it happened. Then more so an hour later when some drunk mofo from this board called up yelling at me that this shit can't be happening. But no Twins... er, names mentioned ::

 

That was the single most SHOCKING and TERRIBLE moment in boxing history for me.

How the hell could the great Roy Jones get knocked out with ONE punch!! I still can't get over it!! :doh:

 

Yeah, it was easily among the most shocking I've ever experienced, perhaps THE most shocking.

The funny thing is i didn't see the punch...I must've blinked the same moment Tarver blinked. All I remember seeing is Roy on the canvas and not getting up....then a surreal moment followed when the Ref waved it off with Roy on his feet.

I could NOT believe what I was seeing. I'm still hoping to wake up from that nightmare! ::

I was laughing my ass off and screaming outside ROY WAS KTFO BY A FUCKING BUM!

 

My only hope is that Floyd retires after defeating Hatton and Cotto and doesn't wait until his late thirties..and stand the chance of getting KTFO by some dude that couldn't carry his jockstrap.

It was a FESTIVE Boxing Environment...REED & a Bunch of Actual FIGHTERS:bears: ...

1 of the Guys had an X-Box,Gamecube or Something & Matched Up Roy & Tarver on Fightnight,to Get Us HYPED B 4 the PPV Telecast Started...& Using Roy,Dude Beat the Living Shit Out of Tarver,Stopping him N 4 Rounds...

After that,REED Popped N a Compilation Tape he had Made of GOOD RJ KO's...Vaca,Serwano,Harris,Tate,Sosa,Brannon,Paz,ALL of 'em...

We were soooooooooo GOTdamned HYPED!!!...

That Intensity went to a HIGHER Level when Punk Ass Tarver had the AUDACITY to Say "U Got any EXCUSES Tonight Roy",During the Staredown...

Everybody N Attendance w/REED Looked @ 1 Another & Shook Our Heads Thinking,"Tarver just FUCKED UP Right There...Roy's Gonna KILL Him":bears: ...

& N the 1st Round,Roy Looked like he was ON his Way to KILLING Tarver...Round 1 was a BETTER Round than ANY Roy had had N the Previous Fight w/Tarver...

Even McGuirt "FELT" Roy N Round 1,so he PURPOSELY Pushed Tarver's Buttons,Playing on his "Respect" for Roy...Tarver IMMEDIATELY Said,"What'd I Tell U about that,Buddy? ",CLEARLY IRRITATED...& he FOUGHT like it N Round 2...

He BARELY Missed a Left Hand which Made REED Say,"Be CAREFUL Roy"...Next Thing REED Knew,Roy's BACK was Facing the T.V. Screen & Suddenly he Go's Down...U COULDN'T See a Punch Land from that Angle,so REED ASSumed Roy had Slipped...

Then REED Noticed it was Taking Roy Awhile to Get Up...THEN,Roy Rolled Over on his Side,Tried to BRACE himself w/his Forearm & Fell Onto his Face...That's when REED's Life FOREVER Changed...

REED Jumped from his Seat & SCREAMED,"GET UP ROY!!!!" (It was Reminiscent of Ricky Schroeder in "The Champ":: )...Roy Got Up WOBBLY, just After the Count of 10 & Staggered N 2 the Ropes...REED was Still Kinda CONFUSED...But the Sight of Tarver CELEBRATING Let REED Know what was Up...

STILL,"REALITY" Didn't Set in UNTIL the REPLAY...Again,the MAIN Camera Angle was of Roy's BACK,so U COULDN'T See the Shot Land,Initiallly...But the REPLAY Captured EVERYTHING...Tarver's Hook CRASHING on Roy's Jaw,Roy's Eye's ROLLING N 2 the Back of his Head & his PRONE,LIFELESS Body Falling to the Canvas...

It was THE SICKEST Sight REED has Ever Seen...Just Talking about it TURNS REED's Stomach,Literally...REED likens it to WATCHING the Death of a Loved 1,Right Before you...

REED Just SAT There w/his Jaw Agape & his Head N his Hands...THEN,REED's Cellphone Rang...It was BIGDAWG...

REED Aswered the Phone PANICKED,"DAWG!!!" (Hoping Maybe this was a CRUEL Joke & Roy had REALLY Stopped Tarver N 2)...Bigdawg Said,"Man I just Kicked EVERYBODY Out of my House,Fuck that"...Apparently,Bigdawg had his Own Fight Watching Party:: ...

We SHARED our DISBELIEF w/Each Other,then Listened to Roy's Post-Fight Interview while on the Phone w/Each Other...

REED had PLANNED on Hanging Out AFTER the Fight,Playing Cards,watching Some More Roy Fights,but Tarver Obviously SHITTED on those Plans...Less than 5 Minutes After Roy's Interview,REED was N his Car on the Way Home...

Still NOT Wanting to ACCEPT what had just Happened,REED Dialed up TWIN...Instead of his Usual Upbeat Tone, a "Hello" or a "What's Up,Dog",TWIN's INITIAL Words to REED were Melancholic,"Are you Alright,Man?":: ...

NO,REED Wasn't...TWIN Endured a 30-45 Minute DRUNKEN Tirade...REED Literally SPILLED his Guts...Short of CRYING,REED Couldn't have Been More EMOTIONAL During that Conversation...

All TWIN could Muster was an Occassional,"Yeah" or an "I'm Sorry,Dog"...But he was the Voice on the Other End,Allowing REED to Grieve...REED Finally Allowed TWIN to Get Back to his Life & Went N the House...

An Hour Later,REED Got a Call from RINGKING (Another HUGE Roy Fan)...We had NEVER Spoken on the Phone,but we did that Night...

SADDEST SportsNight of REED's Life,Bar NONE...REED Cried when Spinks Beat Ali...REED was Sad when Holmes Whipped Ali...But Watching Roy-Tarver II HURT...

I heard about it from a friend who called me up right after it happened.

I think shocked is the best way to describe my reaction.

I always thought Jones was going to be a fighter that got out of the sport before suffering a devastating loss like that...much less two in the same year.

I felt the same way when Tito got anihilated by hopkins. Only difference, that we all knew Tito was doomed since the first round when we all saw the disparity in EVERYTHING, between the two fighters and Hopkins moving all smart around the ring, and we saw it coming. The Roy KO was too fast, and as you say, Roy looked phenomenal in the 1st round....adding to the shock factor

 

I was shocked as hell when Roy got KOd by Milk Dud..

 

When Tarver KO'ed Roy Jones I was on the board laughing at some broken hearted softy "Don't celebrate, he could be hurt" and the rest of the sorry ass bandwagon "Roy won the first round easy" especially those who decided to take a vacation from the board at that convenient time :laughing:

Well if you were not a Roy fan I guess the operative feeling was that this was an interesting development. But to Roy's credit it really wasn't much of a development, as Tarver turned out to be sort of an arrogent one shot wonder who never did much with his big victory. Tarver was made to beat Roy that night and showed that beyond that there was not much to him. It would even have been more interesting if Tarver had tried to cement the victory by going after Roy in the third fight.
