I was very happy to see Roy KOed. I maintained that Roid was a fraud since I first saw him in ammys, back in 1986. It was good to have my opinion correctly validated after all those years.

Even after reading this thread you don't see it? Look at the stories from our own fightbeat members when they saw Roy get KO'd by Tarver. Damn, these guys were suicidal like somebody in their family was killed or something.:eeeek: Reed wanted to die, and bigdawg kicked everyone out of his own house so he could mourn in peace.

Tarver has never shown any fire in his life! His fights are garbage. He has no fans. That's why he's always so angry and trying to get noticed by the public, lashing out at the reporters and media as if they're trying to keep him down when really, it's because he's a zilch on the scene. Nobody anticipates a Tarver fight unless he's fighting Roy Jones, and nobody cares if he makes a comeback or whether he retires. He's just done!:dunno:

I always wanted Roy to get humbled, much like I want Mayweather to get humbled. That night however was not the night I wanted it to happen and I sure as hell did not want Tarver to be the one who did it. I was completely shocked and could not believe my eyes. I felt bad for Roy.

I want Mayweather to get KTFO in the same fashion. Doesn't matter who does it.

I agree. The only reason I didn't want Tarver to be the one to KO Roy was I cannot stand Tarver.

Mayweather will get KOed by Ricky, there's no doubt in my mind.
It pains me to admit it, but Mayweather will suffer his first defeat, after a prolonged and dreadful 11-round beating, come December. The only consolation is, Floyd will NOT quit on his stool, simply because he's head and shoulders above certain Australian fraud.

It was a shitty night for me. I was pretty juiced up at the time and living in a duplex. I asked if some of the neighbors and friends if they wanted to my suite to watch a boxing match. (i had hacked sat at the time)

Most of them knew nothing about boxing so i'm hyping up Roy to get them more interested. All of a sudden POW! and the fucken fight is over. I was so drunk i could barely comprehend what happened. Fight's over, company leaves and i'm sitting there dissapointed and out of it. I went to bed and woke up in the morning hoping the night before was a bad dream.

When Roy was KO'ed, I was in utter disbelief.

I was working overnight, and a friend called to tell me. I didn't believe it until I got home and downloaded the fight from Carlos. The first round felt like 10.

A few months later, I was working overnight again, and that same friend called to tell me that Roy had been on the canvas for 15 minutes. I couldn't believe that either. I had to rush home and watch it....

And this is coming from a Roy hater!

The Glen Johnson fight was very disheartening also..but no where NEAR as bad as the Tarver KO for me.

The Johnson fight was worse, that was a prolonged beating for 6-7 rounds. At least with the Tarver fight, a fan can hang onto the 'lucky punch' excuse.

REED Remembers that like Yesterday,as Well...

After 8 LACKLUSTER Rounds,it was Obvious to REED that Roy WASN'T Gonna Win...He just DIDN'T Have "IT",his Legs Looked like SHIT & he COULDN'T Keep Glencoffe Off of him...REED Figured Glen would Win a Decision OR Roy would Get a GIFT Decision that he didn't Deserve...The DISAPPOINTMENT had Already Set N...

So the Phone Rang,REED Noticed it was Bigdawg,& REED Went on the Patio to Smoke...We're Talking for a Minute or So & REED Looks Up to See what's Happening on the Tube...

    BOOM!!!....TIIIIIIMBER!!!...REED Said,"Shit!!!...SHIT!!!!""...Bigdawg (Who Wasn't Watching the Fight,Cause he was N South Bend w/Rah-Rah)Asked,"What,Dog,WHAT!!!???"...

"It Happened Again...It Happened Again...IT Happened AGAIN"...

The WORST Part was Having to Give Bigdawg a Blow by Blow of the Postfight Shit...How Looooooooooooong Roy was Unconcious,How he REFUSED to B Taken Off on a Stretcher, how Coach Merk had to Do Roy's Half of the Post-Fight Interview,All of that...

But N a SMALL Way,REED was Kinda Glad that Glencoffe Knocked Roy Out Also,Cause it LESSENED the Value of Tarver's KO..Tarver was on Top of the World,Doing is Victory Lap N Terms of Mainstream Attention & he was even N Attendance @ Roy-Glencoffe...

So a Small Part of REED was GLAD that Tarver's "Moment" Got Shitted on...

I remember feeling the same way REED. I despised Tarver. But after the fight between Roy/Johnson I respected Johnson. Johnson had class, while Tarver had NONE. I still long for the day for someone to put Tarver to sleep.:flip:

Someone should convince Tarver he's too good to be at 175 and should move up to fight Wlad. :stir:

Dymipimpel and I agree that the Tarver KO was one of the most significant moments in sports history. Tarver and Ruth are the two greatest athletes because they both predicted an event that has a low probability and delivered. Milk Dud deliberately yelled his prediction so all could hear and so the ref could bear witness to his greatness.

Ruth had pointed to the bleachers and hit a home run for a little boy and Tarver told everyone that he would KO Roy and they did it!! Tarver could have taken Roy apart piece by piece but decided to make sports history.

When Johnson KO'ed Roy I thought at first he may have killed Roy:dunno: and I was obviously concerned. Poor Roy must look at Mayweather in a fit of jealous rage. Floyd will rise to pound for pound greatness as Roy can only try to plot his revenge against the Road Warrior, Glencoffe.

Doubt it. Floyd was never as highly regarded by the masses as Jones. Most fans don't even like Floyd and they don't care for his tap and run style. The evidence is in the crowd's reaction to his fights against Baldomir and DLH. He's just not adored.:dunno:
Even still, if he gets KO'd anytime between now and the end of his career, there will be no legacy or p4p greatness.

Actually a lot of fans do adore Mayweather despite his arrogance. And yeah everyone wants to see Mayweather get the Jones treatment but Mayweather is too smart for that. And all the Mayweather haters can't stand that fact! :tease: .......

I am only fucking with you Hanzy. The truth is that the Hatton fight is a real challenge for Mayweather and he could lose that fight pretty easily. I still don't know who I will pick for that one. Hatton is a lot better than a lot of people think IMO. I want Mayweather to win so I Caligula has to shut the fuck up though. I will personally start a thread fucking with Caligula if Floyd wins.

In order, the most dangerous fights for Floyd...

    Mosley
    Cotto
    Hatton

All three I'd like to see and if he manages to run through all three (not poke and run like the Oscar fight) you'll have to think of him in All-time terms then.

I simply don't believe he'll beat all three but I'm confident he'll beat Hatton.

I remember going into the first Tarver fight, I was very nervous because Roy looked dead at the weighin.....and by mid fight I saw Roy's aura vanish. Even though he won (with heart), I was depressed because it felt like superman had left the building.

Heading into the weighin of Tarver II, my heart dropped again when I saw that he once again had an ash-like, sunken face.....after the first round I turned to others and said Roy is vulnerable (no legs). When the knockdown happened I was speechless......it was surreal.....Lampley and Merchant blew their loads at ringside and the haters roared in unison.

To this day, I still can't believe how Roy got goated in coming down to fight Antonio. Jones was so strong and healthy-looking in his new body, only to destroy it mere months later....he should've at least taken a year off after the first Tarver fight but once again, he got goated. For me, the Tarver knockout remains the biggest sports shock ever.....although I think history will calm things down a bit. All legends get old......just thought Roy never would because he was so good good for so long.

disagREED about Lampley. I think Lampley truly thinks of Roy as a friend.

Merchant on the other hand was giddy. I KNOW I saw a picture of Roy trying to get up and Merchant had a HUGE grin on his face.

Lampley seemed happy in his tone and choice of words, gleefully yelling "and Jones is still on queer street".....not exactly respectful words towards an all-time legend.

Larry wanted to cry when Wlad got obliterated by Sanders while Foreman was trying to hold back his laughter. Remember their exchange?

Larry: This is a shock to the boxing world and....

George: (interrupting) I think this is a shock to YOUR world Larry, I don't think the boxing world is that surprised.

Floyd might be too smart(with his bullsh*t safety-first style), but I think after the DLH fight, many fans don't think he's all that the way he's been hyped to be. Come on, the guy looked like sh*t against a 35 year old inactive fighter and many many fans thought it could've gone either way. Even Floyd's old man thought DLH shoulda gotten the win.
Let's just say, it was Floyd's time to shine in front of the biggest audience ever, in front of those who weren't familiar with him. He lost that chance not only be stinking out the arena but by looking VERY ordinary and basically, not exactly hot sh*t.
I really hope Hatton kills him and just ends this crappy ass Pretty Boy era.
Pretty Boy was always in Jones' shadow. Don't you find it kinda convenient that as soon as Roy got knocked off the top of the P4P by Tarver, suddenly Floyd's stock rose and people started latching onto him and calling him the P4P king?
If Roy was still at the top, nobody still would be giving a sh*t about Floyd. He wouldn't have all this hype around him with this P4P crap.
