some local news reporters said that cazares looked dehydrated, and received water quickly, looking pale and trembling a lil' bit....

Not good for him. He may fade late. This is good news for Ivan.

I'm picking Calderon by decision...and always have been even before all of the supposed weight issues.

I guess it's no longer an "upset" pick - or at least not as much.

Cazares is big, determined, can punch, and is good....I just think Calderon will frustrate him and that Hugo is a bit too wide and Ivan will take advantage of that.

Calderon may go through a bit of fire but I think he pulls it off.

    Peace.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. Although like you - and as mentioned earlier in the thread, I was shocked as hell to see Calderon come out as a 3-2 favorite (though the fight's been bet down to nearly even odds on a few sites).

    Summary of the fight:

Calderon put a virtuoso boxing clinic throughout the first 7 rounds
In the 8th, Cazares hurts him and drop him, Calderon gets on the bike
until the bell saves him, Calderon still on the bike throughout the 9th, recovering his legs. 10th through 12th Calderon continues the boxing clinic.

Calderon wins by split decision, Cazares cries robbery

BTW, it was a GREAT card, very entertaining fights. All except the calderon fight ended by KO. ELECTRIFYING athmosphere inside the colosseum. If you guys never been in a PR fight card, please do it someday before you die, you won't forget it ever.

I give you credit for your objectivity, Neil. I was expecting you to say that Cazares won by 8th round KO.

Calderon, the second-best strawweight ever behind Hall of Famer Ricardo Lopez, has now established himself as a true champion in his new division...
