If Floyd beats Hatton and then the winner of Mosley/Cotto

I think Floyd's rep as a boring fighter is a little overblown

I don't think those were boring and those were his most recent fights. I can understand the Baldomir fight and DLH fight somewhat. But I don't think Floyd ran in that fight, he stood and outboxed DLH.

 

Yep, especially when he made Lalonde come down to a lower weight class. Ridiculous how he was allowed to fight for the light heavyweight title when his opponent had to come in @ 168.

 

Oscar did a similar thing with Hopkins and barely a whisper is ever heard.

 

In my opinion, I've never seen, a more felony filled style, in damn near every single one of his bouts, he constantly, constantly, constantly, pushes/palms his opponents head back, forearms/elbows his opponent to the throat, twists his back in defence and ducks his head below belt level, he uses illegal tactics to win ALL THE TIME, and he's not ashamed to stink the joint out to survive another pay-cheque, the only bout he was pulled up for his felonies, he LOST, I commend Vic Drackulich for exposing him, he's a 'Fraud' true and through, a complete and utter cancer to boxing inside and outside of the ring.

Mayweather would have to keep fighting longer and face and beat a lot of the elite guys to be in the Ali/Robinson/Armstrong discussion.

It's hard to compare eras, for instance Robinson and Armstrong were fighting so often and facing so many fighters who were top guys at the time.

If Mayweather impressively beats Hatton and the Cotto/Mosley winner, and then keeps fighting on and faces a lot of top guys, and wins some and loses some, I still think that does more than simply retiring if he beats the 2 above guys mentioned.

Too much is often made of guys "tarnishing their legacy" by fighting too long, or going out on top.

Most ATGs suck when they retire.

People have short memories. Mayweather adjusts to the opponent and situation. The Baldomir fight was his first dull fight in like 4 years.

But as I said before, I am a little concerned about his cautious approach in his last two fights. Especially in the next fight against Hatton. I wouldn't be surprised if his cautiousness and some funny business with the judges (think of a previous G card this year in March) gives him his first L.

I don't think Hatton would afford Mayweather the luxury of being cautious and as such it'll be an exciting fight and Floyd will get the well deserved decision after reducing Hatton's pigment-challenged face into a lumpy bloody mess.

I think Duran could've achieved a split decision against an inactive, 35 year old Oscar De La Hoya coming off an arsewhipping from Felix Sturm, but you never know.

 

Fought a bit more often as well. Let me know when Floyd ends up with over 100 wins. Let's see if Floyd can get up to 70+ wins with 1 loss or less :laughing: Floyd's 1 of my favorites and people go overboard talking shit about him but get real.

Duran is overrated and if Floyd threw in two more great wins like Cotto and Hatton, he'd be the clear pick over Duran in all-time ratings and in a head-to-head matchup. Sure, Duran, at his best, would be able to beat Floyd, but Duran often didn't come in at his best and that's where the huge difference is.

Compare quality wins and it's probably close.

Compare junk wins and Duran crushes Floyd.

Compare losses and Floyd crushes Duran. The only 'loss' Floyd had was clearly avenged. Duran, otoh, has to go around and call lots of guys 'daddy'.

The only way to make Duran so great is to ignore losses. I don't.

You're judging Duran in his post 30 career, at welterweight and above. In the late 70's as a lightweight he was a fucking beast.

And if their timelines did collide, it would be a big fight, so you can be sure Duran would have come in shape and ready and mauled Floyd's arse all over the ring.

Duran is not overrated in the slightest. He is usually rightfully ranked as one of the best P4P fighters ever. Any less than that and he is being underrated.

Let me know when Floyd becomes the first to defeat a welterweight as good as prime Leonard, or starts knocking out jr middles and middleweights in his 30's.

If Floyd beats Hatton and Cotto, he is still nowhere near Duran.
