Cotto hits harder than Lewis,....remember,.........he's a dreaded ..."BONE BREAKER"... who's BONES did Lewis ever break?...sure he's a skin peeler, but he aint no....... BONE BREAKER.
dsimon writes: Its a good comparison. I think they generate power differently. Vlad really has picture perfect form. His jab is really fast and his punches, like Floyd's are straight as an arrow. Like a lot of European fighters he does not use a lot of punches and he also avoids fighting inside. But the punches he throws are very powerful. Vlad's power comes from speed and probably strictly speaking, at the point of impact because of Vlad's distance and timing and technique, he may hit harder than Lewis on the jab and on the right. Lewis hits almost as hard IMO but loops a bit more and has many more types of punches. But Lewis has more body weight behind his punches and less speed. He also loops more so the punch takes a bit longer to arrive on target. I also think that Lewis' uppercut was the hardest punch either of them threw.
word...and Randall Tex Cobb is alot more skilled than Antonio Margarito...at least Tex never lose to his Sparring partner....:nono:
I think Lewis' overhand right was harder. The punch he knocked out Rahman with is probably harder than any punch Wlad has thrown. I agree that Wlad is faster and punches more accurately. But I think Lewis had more raw power.
Good question. Difficult to say. Wlad has more overall power, IMO (ambidextrous and what not), but Lennox's overhand right hand is the most powerful single shot that both fighters possess.
Lennox... Against a HIGHER Grade of Opposition,Lennox was a CONCUSSIVE Puncher w/a SINGLE Right Hand... Wlad can FUCK your World Up w/a Single Shot, but he DOESN'T Quite Bring it like Lennox Did:nono: ... If Lennox is a "10",Wlad's an "8.5" or a "9"... REED
Kinda hard to differentiate. Both guys can definately bomb and are very accurate. Both just favor different power shots.
Lewis has a broad, brutish, upperbody, with big, hard hands, he was physically taller, larger and stronger than Wlad, and his right was the much heavier club, although it was a bit slower. Lennox is the greatest heavyweight whoever lived, and he beats every American-pro fighter in history as a matter of fact.
I dont even think that Wlad was faster. The Lewis that destroyed Ruddock was faster, and more athletic than Wlad ever was.
Now you're just being ridiculous. Wlad is OBVIOUSLY faster than Lennox. It's not even a debate.:nono:
Lewis was the more athletic for sure, but I think it is obvious Wlad's fists move faster than Lewis'. Also keep in mind that Lewis in the Ruddock fight was 20 lbs lighter compared to Wlad
Ok, how about this one. Who throws faster punches in bunches, Wladimir or the south african Corrie Sanders?
No way Lewis was faster, not even close. The first time I saw Wlad fight, I didn't really take much notice of his power or skill or anything, the first thing I thought was "fuck this guy is fast for such a huge guy". Well his hands anyway, he has real quick hands for such a big fucker. I hate Lewis, but he was obviously a great fighter with a lot of strengths, but speed wasn't one of them :nono: Never was, not even early in his career. Lewis was always pretty slow. He just made up for it with his height, reach, timing, accuracy and power. What Sly said is true. Wlad's overall array of punches have more power, but Lewis' right hand is harder than anything Wlad throws.
Look at the combination Lewis dropped Golota with I.E. and re-think whether Wlad has faster hands than Lewis. And Lummox was like 240 somethin in that fight. I think Lummox's hands in the 90's were at least AS quick as Wlad's, maybe quicker. Wlad is quicker than the older, more methodical Lewis of 99-03.
Wlad is faster than any version of Lennox. That Gotola combination is NOTHING compared with the Wlad combinations on Maurice harris for example. NOTHING! Look at Lennox vs Frank bruno, when Lennox was only 225lbs or something like that and then tell me he throws faster punches than Wlad. Lennox is a harder puncher than Wlad, greater fighter...but faster, he is not! :nono:
Lennox was NEVER known for his speed, even in his lighter days but Wlad's speed was always noticed and commented on. That's all you need to know.
phonetap has finally figured out who you remind him of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEixh00QthE  btw: lennox isn't fast in the traditional sense but he's faster than wlad.
