Dempsey usually suffers from a distinct size disadvantage whenever matched up against Modern heavyweights...but thsi wouldn't be the case here.

Tunney outboxed Dempsey and Byrd is a good boxer. Byrd survived Tua..and Tua was a hard punching slugger.

    Could he decision Dempsey?

IMO even though Dempsey was smaller then Byrd , if Holyfield could daze and confuse Byrd with the 4 punches he managed to throw in the 11th round , Dempsey would stop him.
Byrd does not have the toughness of Tunney. Not to mention Dempsey was old and in his last fight. Also Tunney was really KO'd in the rematch but was given a super long count and allowed to survive.

I pick Dempsey in 12 by TKO or a workrate UD and if this is 15 , Byrd gets stopped and goes to the hospital.
