Three fights that were short quick and explosive in which both fighters hit the desk at least twice, in which at least one round saw BOTH fighters down and that ended in decisive brutal knockouts!! Which was the best one?
Hamed-Kelley is the only one I rewatch. Usually I dont like this type of fights all that much. Foreman-Lyle looked plain pathetic, I have watched it twice and probably won't look again. Moorer-Cooper started out quick but Moorer took over pretty good there. Hamed-Kelley was exciting. Hamed's lack on concentration combined with Kelleys professional skill made him touch the canvas several times but in the end Prince's huge power was the difference.
Hamed-Kelley... Bigger EVENT than the Others & a Better Fight... This was the PERFECT Boxing "Show"...The HBO Televised Portion Featured Junior Jones & Kennedy McKinney's Slugfest on the Undercard... REED Could FEEL the Electricity thru his T.V. Screen...Prince Put on a SHOW Before the Fight & him & Kelley Engaged N Quite Possibly THE Best Featherweight Fight EVER... A FEW Times per Year,REED RE-Watches the ENTIRE HBO Broadcast from Start to Finish...That Night STILL Excites REED... REED
I agree. It was Hamed's first fight in the US, and at MSG against a Brooklyn native no less. I don't know if a foreign fighter could be introduced to the casual US boxing fan in a bigger way.
My two cents: Hamed-Kelley was a very action packed fight and featured the most offical knockdowns of the three fights (6), "BUT" (Copywright slystaff, September 2007) Hamed NEVER looked seriously hurt, never looked in danger of being stopped and after the second round or so, always looked like the man that would eventually win. So unlike the other two fights there wasn't the same two way drama. Both Foreman and Moorer, the winners of the other two fights, were in imminent danger of being stopped before they came back to win, particularly Foreman. Hamed went down three times, officially, but two of them were only glove-touches and the third was a flash KD. Kelley was th only guy seriously hurt in that one. I voted for Moorer-Cooper as I thought it had the best combination of action, drama and explosive/decisive/artistic finish!
Queens :nono: .. but otherwise agREED 100% I enjoyed Hamed/Kelley the most (save for the ending, of course), perhaps because of the environment and being there live for it. I saw Moorer-Cooper as it happened, but on TV. I saw Foreman-Lyle years later, well after all of the hype, and I'm with UGBK in that once or twice is enough as far as watching that fight goes.
