Griffith twice decisioned Luis Rodriguez who also was a great slippery counter-punching type opponent. I think he outpoints Benitez in a close one as well.
Well they fought 3 times. Griffith won twice by SD and Rodriguez won once. Haven't seen the fights, but from their styles and reputations i wouldn't be schocked at all of there was any controversy in the scoring. The fights would probably haven been difficult to judge.
Actually they fought 4 times, with the 1st and 4th being most disputed, I believe. Emile won his 3 by SD; Rodriguez won his 1 by UD. They were so evenly matched...and Griffith did just enough to swing the cards by endlessly crowding and bullying Rodriguez. Luis Rodriguez is one of the most underrated all-time greats EVER - and especially at welterweight. I think Griffith wins this....Benitez is too selective in picking his jabs and waiting for countering opportunities that come few and far between as Griffith applies awkward, unorthodox, ceaseless pressure and very cagey boxing skills. Griffith by UD, absolutely wearing Benitez out....may drop him late. Peace.
