there should be a youtube clip of DLH in one post fight interview where he says he had personal problems during the fight  ________ Nevada Medical Marijuana Dispensary

Nice clip, never seen it before. Oscar had every right to be pissed. I thought he won trhe fight even though I predicted AND wanted Tito to win.
Tito got lucky. Close fight, but you have to give Tito the benefit of the doubt in basically all the close rounds for Oscar to lose that fight. Still, what goes around comes around.
Agreed. Oscar won debatable decisions vs Whitaker and Quartey and so it's fitting that his first L came in the same fashion. But Trinidad did NOT win that fight. You'd have to be giving him everything just to have it a draw. You could argue that the 1st round was close, you could argue that Tito won the 4th and of course you could correctly give him the last 4 rounds. But I don't see how he could be given seven rounds or at least 6 and one even. IMO Oscar clearly won rounds 2,3,5,6,7 and 8.
yeah, that's the one part of that episode that always stayed with me as well. he almost sounded stuck between characters :: ... though TWIN nailed it in commenting on how it's one of the few times we got a glimpse at the GENUINE version of Oscar.
I think rounds 1,2, or 8 were debatable rounds that could have been given to Trinidad. Maybe I need to watch that sparring session again but I do think that fight was very close with both guys looking average.
Rounds 1, 4, 8-12 were all pretty close. It's conceivable to give the fight to Tito, but it requires being pretty generous to him. Oscar at least looked pretty good for the majority of the fight. Tito looked pretty bad throughout. He landed some decent shots and had better stamina than Oscar, but overall he looked pretty poor. In certain fights like Leonard-Hearns I, each fighter helped bring out the best in each other and to show their strengths. Tito and Oscar did a good job at showing the weaknesses of each other.
I thought Trinidad won the 2nd, 4th, 10-12... and on days where I scored it a draw there's one more round between 5-8 that I gave him.
The scorecards in DLH's wins over Whitaker and Quartey were equally bad, or even worse, than those who gave Trinidad the win over Oscar. Not necessarily in Oscar winning those fights, but the amounts by which he won those fights were just ridiculous.
I don't know. The conspiracy theory was always that Oscar swept (or dominated most of) the first eight and Tito took the last four. But I never saw the case for giving Trinidad the 9th (nor did I ever lend credence to the ridiculous suggestion that Oscar swept the first eight). In fact I remember watching as it happened, and saying to myself after the 9th, "If he loses another round, he lost the fight." As it happened that night, I had it a draw, and have since gone back and forth between a draw and 115-113 Oscar
Same here. Had a draw that night -- and btw, that is ALWAYS the scorecard I use since judges don't get the benefit of "re-scoring" fights. But when I do re-score....a draw is what I most often come away with. Peace.
