with all due respect Donny, it's not strictly a question of styles. not in the least. and to the extent it is, you must acknowledge that a fighter's style is a function of his temperment and his willingness to go to war (among other things).

but besides this, i don't consider bitch-holding and running an element of style. i consider it a pathetic attempt by a fighter to control the action when his skills (or lack of them) have let him down.

The only real, unmistakeable "bitch" move I've ever seen in boxing was Camacho Jr claiming he was blind with a tiny nick above his eye. When guys are getting pummeled in the ring.. ie Freitas, Corrales (spitting mouthpiece), Tszyu... I don't consider it a bitch move to accept defeat and stop fighting.

    I rest my case.

A fighter's style is also a function of his physical talents, technical/fundemental mastery (or lack thereof); and his advantages over his opponent.

    And "running" is clearly subjective.

It's transparent with you, bro - at least on this topic.

I don't care how he "fights" - if a guy like Whitaker, Pep, Ali and even Mayweather gets in with some of the guys they do (and granted, PBF gets some flack for his opposition in recent years); we have no right to call them "bitches" (cowards).

Especially when we don't get up there (sorry to sound Karl-like).

    Peace.

    Peace.

hey. i fully acknowledge that all fighters are brave (braver than me). but among fighters, there's those that are braver than others.

if we're going to curtail our discussions here to take into account the fact that fighters are better athletes than us, well then, i'd have nothing to say ever.

i think the deal is, we're fans, they're pros, we pay them - therefore we're entitled to talk shit about them and forget the fact that even the worst among them could kick our asses. right?

I think you get my point, though....it's one thing to criticize fighters; it's another to call them "b*tches" or "cowards" simply because of their style.

:dunno: Just not a place I would go. Have too much respect for the sport and what they do.

If they are avoiding fighters or quitting with no reason, etc.; that's one thing (or making bone-headed business moves  )....

But calling them that simply because they fight in a way I don't like?

Nah. Not my perogative; and in my view a transparent ploy to yet again criticize "holding" and "running" and "safety-first" blah, blah, ad nauseum.

    Peace.

then it is okay, right Donny, right.

Um... you think Vazquez is a bitch for quitting, when he couldn't breathe properly, yet Freitas is NOT a bitch for flat out quittng against Chico, just because he was being beaten? :dunno:

What? He can't breathe through his mouth?

Freitas was getting completely dominated, knocked down hard and often, and had zero chance to win at that time, he knew it, and he quit. Some fans seem to think that because he stood up, this somehow makes him a coward even though the same fans wouldn't have complained if he had taken a 10 count on his knee. To those fans I say, U R Stupid.

To other fans who just think he should have fought on...your list would be never-ending if you labeled all fighters who quit under the same or better circumstances.

Who knows, but maybe the nose and breathing problems genuinely affected him, as he kicked Rafael's ass in the rematch, and looked brilliant. I don't think he flat out quit, he is not freitas, the nose had to be severely troubling him and impairing his breathing.

Freitas had SOME chance, isn't freitas supposed to be a monster puncher? Why didn't he just go for it and hope to catch chico with something big.

If Chico had sat out the count on the 2nd castillo knockdown, nobody would have blamed him at all, he looked out of it, but look what happened when he got up.

It was highly unlikely for freitas to win yes, but possible.

The only thing I agree on is if he had simply sat out the count, people probably wouldn't have said much, but the manner in which he quit seemed to make all the difference.

Vs diaz was just a fucking disgrace though, I can't believe he actually celebrated his quitjob.

perfect list. Lacy, in particular, is a great addition to the list of braves. if nothing else, the guy is in there to destroy his opponent and walk through fire to do so. also, good catch on cunningham - the guy is a total stink-job.

Having had our discussion and with your supposed denials, can't believe you agreed with that list as "perfect."

    Case closed, again.

Yet Malignaggi is a bitch even though he took 12 rounds of punishment from Cotto...? Same thing for Judah....

Malignaggi and Lacy went through the same thing..a fight were they got dominated...Malignaggi was able to rebound back to win a title...

Hopkins goes up 2 weight division and dominates Tarver...but he is a bitch..

Yes. And that's not all I'm referring to.

But let's leave it there, shall we?

Oh so you know both personally.
Ah, Vasquez is a monsterous puncher himself, actually a more proven puncher at 122 than Freitas at 135.
..and that happens every 10000th fight, the other 9999 times you get battered some more.
The celebration against Diaz was pathetic without a doubt. He better stay retired.

Most fighters are brave, and have much heart. Some exceptions I can think of aka bitches include the obvious of Fruitass, Camachita Jr, Gainer, and Raheem.
