Problem boils down to Corrales waiting too long to get up past 130 - and eventually past 140 (no pun intended).

Guys wait too long - and they've been in too many wars and their bodies have suffered too much....they can't adapt well or 'grow into' higher weights well or give themselves/their bodies time to optimize there.

There is a right/healthy way and a wrong/unhealthy way to move up weight classes.

Chico to high in weight or not, Cintron's going to get KO'd. Clottey's just flat out better than him and probably more durable too, as long as he doesn't hurt his hands that is. ::

 

Clottey beating Chico who just moved up from 135 is impressive? Clottey didn't even stop Chico and he has no chin what so ever and Clottey is supposed to be a "really strong" welterweight? He let Chico go the distance. Cintron KO's a guy brutally that has never even been on the canvas. A guy who it took Paul Williams a supposed puncher 11 rounds to TKO and never dropped the guy once. I don't think either one is overly impressive and one is not more impressive than the other.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me since they're the flavour of the day at WW but Josh Clottey and Paul Williams are two of the most overrated fighters in boxing. Hell people said Margarito was overrated based on his two close fights agaisnt these dudes and in the very same breath people are picking them over the likes of Cotto, Mosley and even Mayweather. ::

Team Cintron just made one of the best management decisions of the year. I'm not saying he should run from Clottey but I don't think he's ready for him right now.

Not impresssed with Clottey. Lost to Margarito, beat a shot Corrales (big deal) and really wasn't impressive against Felix Flores. What's this guys career highlight again that makes him so good?

It was actually a little disappointing that he couldn't stop Corrales at 147. He spends a lot of rounds standing around doing nothing.

 

Could have been a good fight to be sure.

 

Clottey was actually once a quite promising fighter until he ran headlong into Baldomir. Carlos broke him psychologically in that fight.

 

Judging by the last 6 rounds and the post-fight press conference where Fraud broke down crying, it seems he added another demoralised soul to his extensive list Dympeople. He's a bad man indeed.

If what I heard turns out to be true, then I will go on record as saying that I've lost all respect for Showtime and Gary Shaw. But for now, I'll limit to Cintron and Clottey both willing to fight each other, but that the date was no longer available.

 

Nobody is pulling my leg Jake, Cintron turned down Clottey because he claimed to want Margarito but due to lack of budget it will not happen anytime soon.

That is why Main Events wants Feliciano still because it is cheap.

 

Well, he's also extremely beatable and a likely highlight real knockout waiting to happen.

It's hard to find two easier title defenses than Walter Matthysse and Jesse Feliciano.

 

Curious if Cintron-Feliciano still winds up as co-feature to Vargas-Mayorga. Sad if true, but I guess Kermit needs to stay busy.

From what I heard, the date was yanked (Paul Malignaggi was supposed to fight Herman Ngoudjo on the card) and was instead given to Shaw. What I don't get is why fuck around with a set card when they still have nothing planned for November 3.
