Witter doesnt have to wait for Hatton, he should just pursue a Unification fight against Paulie. Who would win?
Not SURE who'll Win,but Instead of Sitting Around WAITING on Ricky Hatton,Witter AND Malignaggi Should PUSH for this Fight... REED
dsimon writes: These guys are both solid. Paulie has great punch output and skills. I have not seen junior fight so can't pick one or the other.
realistically, when you think about it, Witter is the chief threat to Hatton and if you are looking at it objectively, you have to say that Witter is arguably the #1 at 140. How can you fight someone who's been running from you for the past 7 years. And NOBODY can say hatton wasn't ducking Witter. And we saw why last night. At the moment, it is acceptable because he's fighting floyd though. Witter has beaten Noud and kotelnik (yeah he DID beat CLEARLY he won rounds 1-6, lost 7-11 and won 12, winning 7-5 and please post your scorecard if you think he didn't and I will rewatch the rounds in question and provide second by second accounts of the rounds el terrible). I think he'd take torres and holt. I can see him also beating Malignaggi (Witter would have to be favourite). Castillo? No. Who else is there? Witter is CERTAINLY universally recognised as 2 or 3, however I will say he would beat Malignaggi and Hatton (very comfortably beat Hatton).
dsimon writes: Malignani is a tough cookie. He showed he can hang in there against a banger with Cotto. The kid has no real power to speak of though.
dsimon writes: Just saw the fight. Regarding Magniali and Witter I don't know who wins that one. Witter carries his hands so low! But he has pretty good movement and truthfully Harris didn't really catch him substantailly. Maglioni does have a good chin though. It would be a great fight. Hatton would have a hell of a time with Witter. Even Maglioni would be a good fight for Hatton if he could handle Hatton's physicality.
Interesting clash of styles. Wouldn't be surprised if Paulie eeked out a decision, but I'd lean towards a Witter stoppage.
Harris caught Witter with one good shot the whole fight and it stunned him a bit. But Witter cleared his head and got back to business.
It is a fight that should be made, but not one i am entirely excited about....don't think it is a great clash of styles, but a difficult fight to predict none-the-less There isn't much between them for the most part, but if there is one department where one has a big advantage over the other, it is the power department.....Witter has proven he has serious power, and can take a decent shot....Mallignaggi has nothing to worry him....that could give Witter the edge....he might not knock Paulie out, but he'll have a psychological edge that could determine how the fight plays out....Witter can afford to take more risks
No suprise to see Cotto's staunchest groupies, ie- Illuminati:stir: , hyping up Cotto's descent of scrub opposition who've been gifted paper-titles shortly thereafter. Malignaggi's a mere prissy flirt, and he'll be wopped to the canvas by any decent contender.
Margarito isn't even a paper champion anymore after losing to his sparring partner....the "nobody sparring partner"..:: So Witter beat Cotto's sons and grandsons...:dunno: so? Cotto beat Witter DADDY...
