That's a toss up IMO. Even Gatti could get out of the way of Tackie's punches with post cards attached.

Not like he'd have success if he stepped up anyway. If Gomez fought the likes of Cintron, Williams, Margarita, ect he'd get his head beat up. Even the texi cab beater would batter him. Gomez blows! I think Baldo would whup his ass.

    Gatti was better than Tackie.

The difference in quality wins is huge. What is Tackie's best win? Roberto Garcia?

Tackie has a lot of quality losses, but that's just it...he got his shots and didn't do anything with them. Gatti, otoh, has the world title wins over Patterson and wins like Damgaard, Branco, Dorin, and Ruelas.

Tackie's Garcia win is arguably less impressive than all of these.

Tackie at his best was pretty good, but he didn't peak as high as Gatti and he didn't do enough at his peak to make it arguable.

Why are you hating on Junior? The kid had no amateur background. He has to get his experience somewhere. Let him fight a few bums. Big deal.

yep. and i know who i'll be rooting for. i mean really. who the hell is gonna root for Gomez? the guy is not that good. fight a real contender. lose. and be gone. that's all i ask of him. but no. he thinks he's gonna get famous by fighting under-sized slow-ass shot fighters? dammit i hope Tackie breaks his jaw off and blood spurts all over the referee.

Fair point and I've said it too....

I think what rankles, though, is that he is "learning his craft" and fighting subpar opponents - while being on PPV or big cards almost every time, which means we're having to pay for it.

Learning vs. "bums" is ok (esp. with no Ammy background)...but it should be done in obscurity.

But alas, those were different days....

    Peace.

So this fight is going to air on ESPN instead of ESPN2?

If so, that's a good sign since it's a rare occurance. Gomez is a crowd favorite and it should be an entertaining fight so in that sense this fight serves a purpose.
