Cardiff natives will need to have plenty of joe "American nickname for coffee" in their thermos for the Nov. 3 bout between Calzaghe and Kessler. The South Wales Echo is reporting that due to scheduling with American TV, the Calzaghe-Kessler bout could start at 2am.

Calzaghe/Kessler will be too. That's why it's so late in Europe.

Why? Nobody here in the states knows who they are :dunno: They should've kept this fight exclusively for Europe and fuck the american networks, show the fight the day after, taped

si... though that fight and Tszyu/Hatton are the only two I know of in recent years. Hatton/Maussa aired live in the states via mid-afternoon PPV, and a few bouts have aired mid-afternoon on HBO (Calzaghe-Manfredo and Klitschko's last few overseas fights - Brewster, Austin, Byrd, Castillo). This is the first time HBO is having a start time pushed back to accommodate their prime time schedule, at least since Rahman/Lewis I, which took place in the wee hours of the morning in S. Africa.

HBO has always gone live, and 65000 drunk and pissed fans are a lot to deal with. My money is on a regular start around 2PM/3PM EST. The newspaper just made some stuff up based on two Showtime bouts, namely Tszyu/Hatton and Calzaghe/Lacy.

That´s like saying there is a possibility Oscar will fight on Cinco de Mayo, in Las Vegas, on PPV, tickets will be expensive and Oscar will make at least 15 million dollars. Well actually that is more likely than Kessler/Calzaghe starting at 6 PM EST.

Not sure what your point was in this post, or even if there was one.

HBO only recently started airing overseas bouts live during mid-afternoon. In fact, they only recently once against started airing overseas bouts, save for Wlad. Never do I recall the bouts airing at 3PM ET (unless you're talking about prelim bouts, which HBO rarely if ever carries).

If Calzaghe-Kessler does air live in a traditional time slot, then it will in fact be a 6PM ET start time (for the bout itself, that is). For what it's worth, though, paperwork is in place for a possible time switch, and the promoters and the arena want to have all of their ducks in a row should HBO decide to go this route. Their concern is having a $5 million fight compete with college football, and losing out on replay viewings to Showtime's card.

My point is Cupey started a topic saying "they switched", when they are just considering the possibility. :dunno:

Yes, I got it mixed up. 23.00-0.00 local time, 5/6 PM EST.
