If I remeber right, the baldomir fight was in Vegas and all his "local" fans were booing and heading for the exits.

 

My US chums, you will never understand until you actually come to the UK for a big fight. These events become soo much more than just a fight when the crowd is going nuts the whole evening.

And it's not just a load of pissheads swearing, the British supporter in general is very, very vocal in his support.

It's an all encompassing atmoshere which runs right through the stadium.

 

if its anything like Hatton Castillo then I am impressed because not only were they the most vocal and supportive fans I have met they were also respectful and gracious after the fight. Out of the 1000s there I think there were only a handful who I would consider of the hooligan assortment

 

Yeah, but you're in Vegas with a multitude of nationalities and races...

It would be a COMPLETELY different atmosphere if you're one of the few minorities.

theres a culture in the UK of fans traveling to events just to soak up the atmosphere and chance their arm at getting a ticket - you see it at every big tournament & european final...and this fight is on that scale. Ultimate example (and yes this post is just an excuse to boast about this ::) being us Celtic supporters taking 80,000 to Sevile after being allocated 21,000 tickets. 40 odd thousand ended up just mulling around the city centre watching it on screens. Expect a Manc invasion of Vegas regadless of how many tickets they're allocated.

 

truer words have never been spoken. Boxing has been a part of my family one way or another dating back to my Grandfather's days as an amateur. Yet it wasn't until I attended the first Eubank-Benn fight that I become permanently hooked on the sport.

 

That's on my to-do list when I travel.

Forget about all the sight-seeing and monuments in the U.K., the main thing I want to do when I travel there is to see a big boxing match there.

 

This is why, when i see the generic response of "why should <insert US fighter's name here> fight in the UK?? Bring's <_____> bitch ass to the US . . . .etc", my answer for a while now has been: because after the fight and after their careers each fighter will look on such a fight as a memory which will be retained forever.

IMAGINE for a second how it would feel to fight in front of 60-80,000 vociferous fans!! And then imagine how it would feel to silence them!! And even gain their applause!! It would be like the fucking ampitheatre!

Or, you could chase the $ fighting in front of a few thousand suits and sponsors. I know what i'd rather do.
