Margarito is a fucking fraud, he's not an elite fighter, never has been, never shall be.

Whining about being ducked etc, gets offered a big fight against an ELITE opponent, and declines

    What a bitch.

How many impressive wins has Margarito got at 147?

Six Heads? Hercules Kyvelos?? Oh, I forgot...Cintron. That was his best performance in his career that has been littered with inactivity, and to a degree...inconsistancy.

Margarito has never faced or beaten a great fighter, and has lost to average to good fighters.

Yeah, he is big compared to cotto. Yeah, he is big compared to Zab Judah. Yeah he is even big compared to Shane Mosley.

But IMO, all three would be the best, most skilled and toughest opponent he ever faced BY FAR.

    So why all the accolades?

arum didn't want the cotto/margarito fight to happen. why would he. if margarito won, it'd be a disaster for his business. just know that when you make any inferrences or assumptions as to the role margarito played in derailing the fight with cotto.

If margarito really wanted the fight, it could have been made, it was on the table for him.

No ifs and buts, he was offered the fight and turned it down.

Now it's arum's fault that it didn't happen.

 Everything was set..all Margarito had to do was sign...1.5 million or whatever it was for a fight against Cotto...

Margarita did not sign.....and that is the END.

So provide a link to an article that documents it was ARUM's decision not Margarito's to turn down cotto and fight williams, and that margarito was actually gunning for cotto.

You're just talking utter fucking shit double, you have no idea it was arum's doing and not margarito's, it's mere speculation.

And like I said, if Margarito REALLY wanted the cotto fight, he could have had it, end of story.

Yup, that's essentially what I've been saying. That's the bottom line.

Margarito could have signed to fight Cotto, but didn't, end of story.

Double L is one strange boxing fan.
He always hates on the fighters who fight the very best and take on the toughest challenges and praises guys who never fight anyone, but have the reputation of "feared" fighters :dunno:

Arum was actually pissed at Margarito for not fighting Cotto. So much so he was going to sue. Up until he and goosen came to some sort of an agreement. Margarito had a chance at Cotto. He gambled and blew it.

    It might be.
Both guys like to suck Zoo's dick (Zoo's BIGGEST victory was Sharmba Mitchell)
Both guys like to suck Margarito's dick (Built his career on Baldomir's leftover)
Both guys hate Hatton for making their hero quit like the little bitch everyone knew he was....
I think they might be the same guy.....

Well, when all is said and done on this thread, it's too premature to make this assessment.

We haven't even seen Williams fight again yet - and we're trying to assess if he was "ruined."

Given what I know and saw, I don't think it was a "career-ruining" beating at all.

Not when you compare it to real known career-ending-type fights.

It fell quite short of that. If it is, then there are ALOT of 'prematurely ruined' fighters out there.

Fact is, it was a very close fight; and if people consider Williams as being a top welterweight -- then Margarito can't be far behind.

I had that fight a draw.

    Peace.

I think I understand Double L's rationale behind this thread....
What he's worried about, is that Williams will turn out to be a bum and will lose decisevely to the first elite fighter he faces (Mosley, PBF, Judah, Baldomir, etc)..
Then, after Williams gets beaten down by any one of those, Double L will scream "Margarito ruined him!!" instead of admitting that Margarito lost to a bum yet again.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear

Both Cintron and Clottey annihilate Zab Judah, 'Cotto's resume is more impressive'?? wtf?? :notallthere: .. seriously, Zab going for this third consecutive loss is a better victory than a win over Clottey or Cintron?.. that's some very DESPERATE, desperate hate Im afraid...

:dunno: I wonder why 99% of this messageboard hates Margarito so much?..Yes, yes  I'm well aware of those 95% who hate him because he made Fraud writh and stutter with a couple of fight propositions but that's hardly Margarito's fault, that's Bob Arum exploiting Fraud's personal information through the media, if anything you should all blame Fraud for being not as ungodly brave as you all hoped he was, aswell as bestest, quickest, goodest, fastest, toughest, bestest, slickest..so heartbroken groupies aside, why the hate for this so called 'insignificant fighter' ?.. Margarito is rarely ever in a bad scrap, he respects his fans, and he'll fight anyone with will and ferocity, he aint no preserving, cautious bitch, he's the epitome of a tough aggresive fighter, and sorry, but "bums" don't beat Cintron or Clottey, put anyone else in there with them who's not top 5 and see how they fare, put fucken Judah in there and see how he goes...

donny, with all due respect (as always), of course it's too early to tell; that's why it's up for debate.

but i'm glad to see someone such as yourself with credibility (I must have swindled mine) saw the fight as a draw. there's people out there suggesting williams schooled or exposed margarito somehow - which to me is so far from the truth it's infuriating.

You love the guy. His best victories are over Mitchell and Judah, yet you never ever voiced an objection about Zoo never facing elite opposition and absolutely refusing to make meaningful fights with the best.
