but floyd's been the same asshole all week, regardless of environment. Besides, those who were praising Ricky all week for exuding class have to eat their words a bit for the way Ricky was talking today.

Floyd's psychologcial warfare/trash talk has gotten homo-erotic in the last week. Sort of Tyson-like.

i wasn't praising Ricky for exuding class, I was praising him for treating Floyd like the ridiculous man child that he is. He can do that by standing with his hands in his pockets and 'exuding class', or by making bunny ears or he can do it whilst swearing, I really dont dont give a shit. I just enjoy someone drawing attention to the fact that Floyd's about as threatening as a bespectacled mormon.

And yes Floyd's been the same dumb asshole all week and Ricky's treated him the same all week: with derision. He played more to the crowd today because its HIS crowd....you really expect anything different?:dunno:

true, reminded me of a poor attempt at the Mike's Razor Ruddock smacktalk. difference is - Tyson was A) funny and B) threatening enough to get away with it.

bullshit excuse and you know it. even if they were the worst of enemies, floyd would have never got up in judah's face like he did hatton. don't let your fanaticism of floyd mayweather blind your sense of reality...

    I liked this:

"I think Floyd Mayweather is a terrific fighter, the best pound-for-pound in the world," Hatton, 28, said. "His record of people he's beaten says that, but he needs some respect.

"He has crossed the line with me a few times this tour, but I don't mind. I can do something about it. It's when he starts saying he is the best ever that gets to me.

"He's an insecure man. That much is obvious, look at the amount of bodyguards he carts around with him. They are everywhere, wearing their jewellery, flashing money and shouting their mouths off. It may be promotion, but it's his way of masking stuff.

"So is this business of saying he is the best fighter that lived. It's all nonsense. It disrespects the genuine greats, people like [Muhammad] Ali and Leonard.

"Sure, he has a place in history, he has been a terrific boxer and is certainly one of the best. But to say he is the best ever is way off the mark."

Oh stop being a puff jake:lol: (whatever that is Hatton called Floyd it a few times). Sure he used some foul language but he set his jabs up nicely... the six year old reposte was brilliant.

Hatton probably feels the need to show something to his supporters that is how I see it.

Floyd can't talk smack for beans. He's only a tad more articulate than his uncle and Father...and you know what a bastardization of the English language they're both capable of.

Floyd's just good at getting under the opponent's skin by antics and a show of extreme confidence. It's a very good tactic. It has both the effect of unsettling the opponent AND keeping Floyd motivated as he KNOWS his has to deliver after all of that.

It's worked for him so far...and if he survived the De La Hoya test, I don't see anyone else beating him while he's in his prime.

his responses were brilliant. but i'm just saying people can't have it both ways. you can't say Ricky was calm cool and collected in the states because that's who he is, and then also claim that he's not a bit unnerved.

the reason I cite Ricky's cursing, is because that's not really his habit (at least in public). The stuff he said is just as funny without saying "Fuckin" (or as he says it, "feckin'") each and everytime, especially during a press conference, being broadcast live. And just as Floyd's grabbing his crotch, dancing a fool, boisterous claims and getting in ricky's face at every turn are categorized as signs of floyd's insecurities (and I don't disagree with such claims, btw), so too can be unnecessarily cursing, especially if it's not already his normal way of carrying himself.

I'm not pointing it out for the sake of taking the moral high ground. believe me, I'm the last muthafucka to talk.

I don't remember Hatton talking too much trash talk before the fight was made tbh. I know he said his fight was more exciting than Pretty Boy's but that's about it. he has continually referred to him as 'the p4p best in the world' 'it's an honour to share the ring' etc.

By the way, Hatton called him a 'puff' on that vid, i.e. a queer, homo.

I also thought it was a bit unlike Ricky to swear, which may or may not be telling. However, he was funny. Someone said in another thread that he's boring, but **** me he's funny in interviews for chat shows etc.

Sure they talked shit about each other. We all know that was a straight up publicity stunt. If i remember rightly they was at each others grill just because Taps 1 photo doesn't show it doesn#'t mean it didn't happen.

Just my oppinion dude. Oscar looked stiff and unnerved when Floyd got in his face, I thought at the time that Floyd got under his skin. I dont see that this time. Its difficult to gauge if Floyd is unsettled by that or not, but its hard to think he wouldnt be, as foolish as Hatton has made him look this week. Hatton's had a laconic answer for everything and his attempts to intimidate him have gone down like an inapropriate fart. Im not saying 'Hatton's gonna win because he's winning the mental battle' or any shit like that but at the same time I think he has gained a slight advantage this week. At the very least hes shown Floyd that theres NO WAY hes gonna fold under the pressure come december.

I don't remember it happening. I damn sure don't remember Floyd EVER stepping to Zab at any point during the promotion.

To me, it seems like Floyd just picks a role to play (good guy or bad guy, that is). Zab's enough of an asshole on his own to where Floyd was able to play the good guy. For other promotions, Floyd saw it more beneficial to be an asshole. And to his credit, it does help sell more tickets and/or draw more interest. It shouldn't, but just playing the game gets boring when trying to sell a fight (esp. if the end result winds up being a boring fight), so Floyd goes that route. I don't blame him, even though I think he makes himself look and sound like an ass more often than not.

Floyd can really be an annoying clown  he knows that and he uses it to the max against everyone everywhere.

I think Hatton is just not the type to trash talk. He had to say something in front of his fans though. But you can tell it's not his nature.

Really? I thought Hatton smacktalk came out more naturally than Mayweather's. Money Mayweather smacktalk seem to always be force..and unfunny.

he said a few quotes that were funny. But I meant like Hatton normally doesn't trash talk his oponents like a Mayweather, Toney, Mayorga would do.

The stuff Hatton has said are more witty and creative which is why they stick and get attention. But Hatton doesn't go out of his way to trash talk his oponents. Against Floyd you have to say something though.

Floyd on the other hand like you said is not nearly as funny yet he tries too hard to be funny that he comes across annoying. Especially when he dances.

We desperately need some live boxing.

500 replies to a press tour, Oscar goes photoshop.

It´s so bad, that I´m pissed tonight´s Odlanier Solis and Yuri Gamboa bouts are tape-delayed for a day.

    Couldn't DISagree MORE...

DeLa NEVER Looked "Unnerved" N REED's Opinion...Have U Forgotten that DeLa Had an Actual ALTERCATION @ a Press Conference w/Fernando Vargas???:dunno:

That's THE ONLY Time DeLa's EVER Looked the LEAST Bit "Unnerved" @ a Press Conference & that's Cause Vargas Put his Hands on him...Shit, even Mayorga Came CLOSER to "Unnerving" DeLa than Floyd EVER Did...

DeLa ALWAYS Looks "Stiff"...N Other Words,he was 100% NORMAL During his Stare Downs w/Floyd...He DIDN'T Back Down an Inch...When Floyd Got N his Face & Talked Shit, DeLa Talked it BACK...When Floyd Took his Shirt Off, DeLa did LIKEWISE...The 1 Time REED can Recall Floyd Putting his Hands on DeLa, DeLa INSTANTLY Brushed Floyd's Hands OFF of him...He NEVER Looked Rushed, Anxious OR Nervous:nono: ...

REED Doubts that Floyd Even KNOWS that Hatton made him Look Foolish...It's NOT like he's Gonna RE-Watch the Press Conference Footage & U KNOW his Yes Men Stroked his Ego afterwards...N Floyd's Mind, HE Got the Better of Hatton, whether that Actually Transpired or Not...

Again, Floyd's "Intimidation" Tactics FAILED MISERABLY Against DeLa, a Bigger, Stronger, More THREATENING Foe than Hatton...AND, the DeLa Fight was TWICE as BIG as Floyd-Hatton will B...

It's like U're Trying to Convince YOURSELF of what U're Saying...To Say that Floyd is "Unsettled" is what U WANT to Believe, More than the Actual TRUTH...

But to Each his Own...Enjoy the Fight...

'Unnerved' is maybe the wrong word. Mibbes 'aggitated' or 'perturbed' would be better, lol. I dont mean he was intimidated, just that Floyd 'got' to him. He started to take Floyd's bullshit personally, it pissed him off, potentially clouded his judgement. Hatton just scoffed. Really, we're getting into a ridiculous degree of analysis for a press conference here though...I just think Hatton's handled himself very well.
