Everything Chavez did, Duran did better. Everything Chavez had, Duran had more of(except chin, which means nothing cause Chavez couldnt hurt Duran). Duran by very clear UD.
Duran didn't bodypunch better than Chavez. Everything else....yeah, Roberto did better. HOWEVER, at 135 Chavez was as strong as Duran I think. As great as Roberto Duran was, he never faced an animal like a prime Julio Cesar Chavez. I think that manos de piedra would have had more problems with JCC than Pryor. In saying that,..I pick Duran in a closer than expected majority decision based on his higher overall skill level.
Yes the hell he did! Duran is the greatest body puncher of all time, only rivaled by McCallum in that area. I'd place Chavez 3rd. I'm not saying its a wipe out for Duran. Chavez would keep it competitve, but in the end, there would be no doubt that Roberto is the better man. Duran was everything Chavez was only with much more power, more quickness, and better defense.
Duran's bodypunching is not always mentioning cos he never exclusively used it liked some more well-known body-punchers. He also had great disguise and used to dig shots in real close.....
Duran was a great bodypuncher, and maybe could have been a better one. But chavez was a better bodyshot guy.
Duran wins a clear decision. 9-6 or 10-5 in a 15 round fight, or 8-4 in a 12 rounder. Faster, stronger, hits harder and just a better all around fighter.
