HBO is scheduling this as its first BAD card of 2008. Way to keep the momentum. :bears: :bears: :bears:

Prob David Diaz, that will be one hell of a fight with Diaz winning.
Katsdsis is not that good imho, exciting but not very skilled.

    .....

I'd pick Katsidis to KO David Diaz. Diaz isn't that skilled himself.

David Diaz gets hit too much to beat Katsidis.

Diaz fought a champ, a faded champ but a champ, Katsidis's face looked worse that Diaz and he fought a crap fighter.

I think the Aussie has worse d issues than Diaz, and I dont even like David Diaz.

A former champ, who looked terrible, bro.

And I agree. Katsidis has terrible defense, but he can punch and in a fight involving zero defence and suspect skills....I'll happily take the banger.

Diaz may not punch as hard but he does punch a helluva lot harder than Amonsot and just like him Diaz is a leftie and Katsidis seems like he cannot fight southpaw's very good at all.
If Czar could bust Mike's face up like that then Diaz sure as hell can and will TKO him imho.
Katsidis is overrated and has not fought anyone to par yet, even Gatti knew how to box a little, this guy doesnt.

Enlighten us on one thing: is Katsidis fighting David Diaz or Juan Diaz after he kicks the shit out of Julio Diaz?

I don't disagree that Katsidis is overrated by a bunch of guys, but I've been watching the kid for years and none of this is news to me. I know what he can and can't do. I also know what Diaz can and can't do. It's a close, competetive fight and again, I'll stick with the puncher. Diaz cuts and busts up every bit as bad as Katsidis does, so thats no real advantage for David.

No slight if you don't agree.

He would have a good shot at David Diaz, but I thought David was fighting Morales again next.

    It's David Diaz.

Great way to start off 2008. I hope it's in Chicago. If so, I'll be making my 3rd trip there in 5 months :bears:

    Ok, thanks Jake.
I think he has a very good shot at David Diaz, very good, and it wouldn't shock me to see him win.
Katsidis is not going to beat Juan Diaz though, not by any stretch of the imagination.

If you are talking in terms that Duran, DeJesus, Alexis, Chavez, and
    Whitaker are gone, I agree.
Those days are not coming back anytime soon, btw.

Basically, it hasn't been a division filled with elite talent for years. Too much weight jumping and well....130 and 140 don't seem to mean any less than 135 anymore, which is a shame.

There is no more prestige aforded to the lightweight champion of the world, than any other Joe Blow belt holder.

Katsidis will be the first unified interim world champion.

This is actually great news, since the winner has to fight Juan Diaz and if he chooses to vacate the WBO interim title instead, still no problem. I have a feeling Juan Diaz will hold all four major belts in 2008.

i can see now that katsidis is underrated. the guy he fought in his last fight, and beat, was a very talented guy, with a good chin, fast hands, and superior skills. and katsidis was over-matched for a time, but managed to turn it around on will and courage alone. that's the kind of shit you beat a David Diaz with. Diaz is hard-core. Katsidis, to me, is every bit as hard. Man what a fight!!

Katsidis will kick David's ass I think.

I doubt he could beat Juan though.
