taylor-pavlik is next weekend (sep 29), this fight was supposed to be a week later, opposite pac-mab 2
Anyone think this has more to do with a lack of ticket sales? I mean, they really weren't selling ANY tickets.
O yeah my bad. I guess its because i really don't give a damn that i forgot. Its Dawson fighting this weekend.
It is just me or isnt it a little ironic that Vitali pulls out and one week later Maskaev does? Something fishy may be going on
i thought of that as well. Peter fights someone else (interim title or otherwise) and BAM - Vitali and Maskaev hammer out a deal to fight each other later in the year or early next year.
Wolfgramm! Wolf F'n Gramm I wanna see Sam Peter vs. Wolfgramm! Actually, I don't, I just like to type 'Wolfgramm!'. Peter\Tua would be fun though. TFK
Oleg kept a prime Tua at bay for long enough back in the day. And a prime Tua is much superior to Peter Oleg outboxed and outslugged Rahman who hits probably harder than Peter does. People are easy to pick Peter by a brutal KO based solely on two factors FACTOR A. Oleg's KO losses to kirk, sanders, whitaker are wedged in our minds. FACTOR B. Peter's ONLY impressive looking KO that of glass chinned Williams is still wedged in our minds.. OLEG wins a close UD
Oleg did well against Tua for a few rounds..but at the end he got checked...K. Johnson not exactly a ko artist ko'ed him....Goofi and Sanders are good puncher but neither hit as hard as Peters..maybe sanders maybe. He did well against Rahman...but like the rock Oleg is an up and down fighters in one fight he looks good..the next he gets ko the fuck out... from Maskaev will outbox him easily....to close decision? :nono: History tells us PETERS will KO Maskaev the fuck out.....:crafty: lets go with that...
Yeah, I just heard from another source that this injury is very suspect, not because of Vitali but because this fight wouldn't have come close to selling well in the MSG theater let alone the big room.
The only thing I hate is that my homeboy was supposed to fight on that card (Jameson Bostic). If they don't keep the card intact sans the main event, then he's stuck until King's next available card (Oct. 13 is already full).
this doesn't mean shit. Peter is 100% hungrier than Rahman. Braver. And his chin is better. Not to mention his stamina. The winner of Peter/Maskaev is a foregone conclusion as far as I'm concerned, and I've always been a fan of Maskaev's. But he can't beat Peter.
Maskaev - Peter is a pickem' as far as I'm concerned, I dont know where the hell this Peter hype has come from but I thought the way he handled Hasim Rahman's pudgey little bitch over the course of 24 rounds was very, very poor, 1 fight removed he was the ''big dunce'' and all Americans were up screaming for an immediate rematch, Toney goes on to be granted a gift decision to an absolute scrub while on steriods,... the jury is seriously still out on Peter, he's got Miranda and Pavlik's "POWER" hype stuck in morons psychies, and this is not the first time people said Oleg was going to get "KTFO!!"..he was supposed to be a DEAD MAN, against Sinan Samil Sam and Hasim Rahman consecutively.
:bears: :bears: Yes they are morons. They're all excited about Peter cuz he's a big bad black man with SUPPOSED power..Tyson days are over kids...stop looking for the next one...
      He'll Huff, and He'll Puff, He'll Blow Hisself Out, He's Sam Peter.
Yeah, I date the Peter-hype back to Jeremy Williams...that kind of KO, especially in a fight that a lot of people got their first looks at him - like they did when Tua KO'd Ruiz - sticks in a lot of people's minds...moreso than his stinkfest with Juvo Pudar or the nine rounds he was getting his ears boxed off by Klitschko. I thought Toney outboxed him clearly in their first fight, but that was a Toney on borrowed time...and while (I think) he should have won, he absorbed some real punishment...and basically ended his career...and I think it is laregely off the Williams KO and Toney rematch that people base their (positive) opinions of him. Someone suggested Thompson as a replacement...I think Toney the Tiger, a habitually slow starter, would likely step up over the second half of a 12 round fight and end up embarrassing Peter. There's four other heavyweights scheduled for the card, any of whom would be easier for him than Thompson.
