I do think some fighters were intimidated by the way they'd look in the ring against Byrd, but his appearance and demeanor weren't intimidating...plus, he is an outspoken Christian and one of the most soft-spoken boxers in the sport. And as has been mentioned, it's hard to present yourself as tough when everybody's seen you getting berated by your wife from ringside.
