Final Prediction: Jermain Taylor vs. Kelly Pavlik

Thinking rationally, I'd give the edge to Pavlik and I hope he wins. But my official pick will be Taylor by dec

for all the talk of Pavlik's power I think he has just as much of not more natural skill than Taylor and it will show more in this fight than in his last two where he had to brawlers to deal with. Taylor's camp admitted to the left hand dropping in the Countdown for this fight and I still think its going to haunt them as it seems like a natural trait more than anything.

 

i honestly dont care who wins, but i just hope that jermain doesnt get another dubious decision.

 

Whoever wins, as long as it is a convincing win, he will have proven himself a worthy Middleweight champion and should reign for quite some time.

 

agREED... but the problem is, Jermain's had so few convincing wins from Hopkins1 forward. In fact, ONE - the Ouma fight, which was arguably his sloppiest performance.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if Pavlik won. He's a very likable fighter, both in and out of the ring. If he wins, then he would have proven himself a very good champion because beating the huge undefeated taylor would be no small feat.

I still think that Taylor does it though. He's tougher than people realize, more determined than people realize and hits harder than his last two fights would suggest.

I think that when the going gets tough, taylor would be able to draw on more dimensions than Pavlik could...but then again Kelly could prove me wrong.

Either way, "like I said before", the winner is a great champion.

you got mine man. i'm trying to think - didn't i win one of these against you one time? do you remember which fight it was?

 

It was for Mayweather-Baldomir...I predicted a late stoppage for Mayweather and it went the distance. But it's not as though i picked the wrong fighter....and Floyd IMO would have stopped him if he didn't hurt his hands.

 

Mayweather hurt his hand in that fight also....

 

Taylor has not looked impressive since Daniel Edourd. And that was only because Eduord has no chin at all. Taylor got a gift in the Winky fight of course that wasn't impressive. ::

 

The Winky fight could have been scored either way, what's with this "gift" nonsense? I had it 7-5 for taylor and was actually disappointed with a draw decision, feeling that Taylor should have won.

Winky may have been throwing more punches, but taylor was throwing the harder, more damaging punches, and whenever he kept the fight in teh middle of the ring he was in control. You got the sense that Winky was only having success on the ropes because Taylor was unerestimating him.
