MAYWEATHER SET TO CHA-CHA ON DANCING WITH STARS TONIGHT

LOS ANGELES (September 25) – Fresh off his whirlwind global media tour to promote his December 8 welterweight championship against Ricky Hatton, the invincible boxing great Floyd Mayweather will make his first live appearance dancing the cha-cha tonight on ABC's Dancing With The Stars (8pm ET/8pm PT). Mayweather, who practiced with dancing partner Karina Smirnoff during several legs of the tour, is ready to give it his best shot and deliver a knock-out performance. "I am ready to dance my way to greatness and show everyone I am multi-dimensional, have natural rhythm and talent and will perform on the show like I perform in the ring."

Mayweather, who will be tonight's second dancer and who has already been labeled as the man to beat by several of the other contestants, will have a busy schedule in the coming months, dividing his time between practicing for the show and training for his fight against Hatton which will take place at the MGM Grand and air live on HBO Pay-Per-View. "I am ready for the challenge," said Mayweather. "I work out two to three times a day anyway so the dancing practice will only add to my overall preparation for the fight."

Dancing With the Stars contestants are judged and scored by a panel of three experts and then voted on by the television audience, which is estimated to be more than 35 million viewers. Mayweather, who is among a field of 11 other competitors, is appealing to the boxing public to make his stay on the show a lasting one.

"I need the support of all of my boxing fans so please tune in, call-in and vote for me."

For some reason, Floyd was the only guy among the six not wearing a black suit/tux. He also ditched his more familar catchphrases in favor of the more traditional "I'm just happy to be here."

Even if he does well, I don't see him lasting longer than four weeks. If he can last that long w/o getting voted off, I think he'll eventually excuse himself from the competition to focus on training camp for Hatton.

Curious to see if they allow him to promote the Hatton fight, since ABC is owned by Disney, obviously rivals with HBO/Time Warner. They wouldn't even let Billy Ray Cyrus promote his own album, and that's with his daughter having their highest rated show ever ::

 

His boxing fans should support him by voting against him so he'll be training only for the fight, as he should be.

no doubt, I admit I've actually watched every season, all the way back to Evander making a fool of himself (around the same time Larry Holmes sang himself off of that short lived celebrity singing competition). I'm still not sure there's ever been a hotter chick on the show than Kelly Monaco, but damn if they don't keep trying every year.

As I said before... and you had no reply to :: The main difference is, Floyd will be on the show, hype the fight then go kick Hatton's ass at the same time. Tszyu hide himself from another beating by getting in the contest.

Floyd is in top shape and blew all of those other guys away.
He was the only one that took the initiative from his female partner rather than just letting her lead and do all the work like the other guys did.
Than biased judges had him in last place which is bullshit.

Despite all that, you still have to be pretty disappointed with how crappy Floyd looked against Oscar. In a fight which was supposed to be a complete blowout in your view, it was anything but.::

jane seymour at her best is certainly the best of the best, but she looked old as fuck on that show. still, she was very doable in Wedding Crashers.

 

I gave Oscar two, maybe three rounds for showing up.
It was a blowout.

 

I agree Floyd put on a great show the crowd was going wild and he came off as very likeable and genuine.
