Pavilek - He showed good guts and heart. Though I think his skills are sloppy and below average his power is very good. His is the kind of power that wears you down.

Taylor - This has been a long time coming. The guy looks almost the same as he did before he was a champion. Same sloppy footwork, zero defense, and still keeps his hands down from start to finish. I was never impressed with him and ain't sorry to see him lose with the way he picked on little guys. Also, I wonder if JT softened up a bit. He was up off his stool and walking around in no time after the fight so you have to wonder how bad was the actual damage he took from Kelly. I also wonder after hearing his post fight interview if Steward didn't have him thinking he was behind on the cards causing him to kind of give up on himself.

Steward - Is it time for him to hang them up? I think so, his fighter's haven't been looking impessively and actually seem to get KO'd under his tutalege sooner or later. I know this can happen to anyone, but just seeing that Steward can't even get JT to keep his hands up, the way he was dismissive of Pavilek, and his cushy HBO gig, makes me think his hunger is as gone as his fighters is.

Jeez dude, you are a harsh critic.

    1) Did you see that welt on Taylor's face in the dressing room? :notallthere: That didn't happen after the fight in a Golota Bowe Melee bro!

    2) Stewart's fighters have been kicking ass. His predictions have even been spot on and... If Taylor had finished Pavlik in that round Stewart would have been almost uncanny in his predictions. Stewart is not the problem and Taylor also looked a lot better btw. Stewart's winning ways are such that no trainer I can think of comes close. Roach? horrible as of late except Pacquio. Mcgirt? Thats a man who should hang it up.

    GREAT FIGHT!

First of lemme start by saying that even though I dislike Taylor, credit to him for going out FIGHTING tonight, and not stinking it out. But I knew the whole fight Kelly was going to ice him eventually. Even in the 2nd round when Kelly was on queer street, I knew Taylor would be too sloppy to finish him. The guy is just TOO technically flawed, and it was exposed BRUTALLY tonight!

Props to Pavlik, he's great for boxing! Young, exciting, devestating, a very nice and humble cat, and it also doesnt hurt that he's white, simply to drive in more mainstream fans.

Great fight, great KO, great result, and great new champion!

It was a spectacular card tonight. The first fight was great. Berto showed some damn good skills and rounds 3 and 8 were two of the best rounds this year.

The main event was great. Both fighters were badly hurt and fought like warriors.

I agree completely. Good to see a nice, humble likeable guy do well.

Even though Pavlik was on queer street for a bit in the 2nd, I had a funny feeling he would be fine. He is a tough bastard who has the fighters spirit.

To a great year of boxing!!!!:cheer:

Actually I meant to name this thread "Your thoughts on the fight". All the other threads were about specific other things and I wanted to comment on several things at once. I'm sorry if I'm clogging up this board, I mean I know how busy it is on here, not to mention that you only get a certain amount of threads before it's time to reboot the system again. I hope you guys can find it in your hearts to forgive me.

Vlad for one. And he did train Lewis. Vlad was thrown on the trash heap by a lot of people. Taylor also though I think Taylor should never have been allowed the decisions he got. Both Vlad and Jermaine were works in progress and Stewart did improve them.

What way did he improve Jermain. He still kaes the same mistakes. Wlad and Lewis are both skilled. You just got to motivate them.

It wasn't ego, I just misnamed the thread. I wanted to post my thoughts and have everyone comment on them while at the same time posting there own thoughts for others to comment on as well. If a mod can change the "My" in the title to "YOUR" I'd be greatly appreciative.

Taylor did that..avoid Pavlik right hand. For a few rounds..but then start eating them again...the left hook..the jab....uppercut...Pavlik had more than one punch....

Vlad couldn't take any pressure he would fold. He did so consecutively (Sander's, Brewster). Taylor looked better tonight. He actually was able to jab under some pressure. This is an improvement. Lewis had a lot of foibles that were worked out under Stewart's direction as well. Mostly footwork stuff far as I could see.

Jermaine really didn't make mistakes tonight... he even had the chance to do as Stewart predicted and KO Pavlik. It occurs to me that Taylor simply hit his limit. Again, the dude is simply not a big puncher. He is strong and he utilized a decent jab tonight... consistently for the first time IMO.

Compare this to other trainers like Buddy Mcgirt or Roach.... What did he do with Toney:dunno:, Pacquio still makes technical errors, for some perspective.
