I saw it. He was impressive, handled a late sub the way he should have. I like his body punching alot, and of course he has very quick and accurate hands. I think he's the best at 175, he'd beat the shit outta old man Hopkins, and old man Milkdud.

Mendoza was a lame duck. Everything according to plan. Dawson dominated every second of every round and I say that with full confidence, skipping forward right to the stoppage.

Yeah, wasn't much of a fight. I remember Mendoza as a built, dangerous looking Junior Middleweight/Middleweight when he fought Olajide. He looked like a powderpuff in there against Dawson at Light Heavy.

    Clinton Woods.

Woods has now beaten Gonzalez twice and Johnson too.

time for Woods to get some credit.

Forget those guys, I understand it's Chris Henry that he's got to worry about.

How so? He'd beat those two old men Hopkins, and Tarver for sure!

Shit, nobody even started a RBR of the fight. It's been barely mentioned in these forums. That's how "over-rated" he's become.

He hasn't done anything to prove that theory. Dawson has alot of talent and looks impressive and all, but he also has a few flaws an experienced fighter could expose. Like a Bernard Hopkins. I wouldn't crown him king just yet homie.

The road to the light heavyweight division runs through Chris "Hegman Hammer" Henry. :cheer:

In all seriousness, this fight went exactly as I (and most others) thought. Chad dominated, Mendoza looked like a guy who took the fight on 12 days notice, though to be honest, he could've had 12 months notice and wouldn't have fared any better.

Chad's rise toward the top was impressive, but he still has more to do before claiming the top spot. So with that said, his last two bouts have been letdowns in that both were foregone conclusions.

What bothers me most about the LHW division, though, is that it will get to the point (if not there already) where everyone's standing around waiting to fight the senior league, while the seniors are freezing out the younger players. And with Jones-Tito coming along, it's one more payday the rest will be standing in line for, rather than clearing up the presently murky light heavyweight picture.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Dawson-Woods next. They keep saying Clinton's greatly improved since the Roy fight. Perhaps so, though I've only seen him against Johnson (3x) and JUGO (2x). Would be nice to see him fight someone else, and also for Dawson to return to climbing up the LHW ladder rather than Shaw having him tread water while awaitng a Tarver fight that will most likely never come.

Well, considering Johnson is the #1 contender again, and he's not the guy to step aside anymore, looks like we're staring at a fourth match of those two. That's ridiculous in the modern age and to be blunt should not happen. Ironically the problem of course is that Woods is all but giving his title away if he doesn't fight him, and that the ONLY leverage he has for any decent fight. An off-the-wall idea is getting Erdei in the ring, because he's really the closest to the true champion at this point if Hopkins doesn't fight again (*phew, almost brought up a lineage thing, just doged tha...dammit !)

All I can say for Erdei is, even if he should in fact hold claim as the linear LHW champ, his shitty level of competition makes his reign - and title, for that matter - damn near irrelevant. Fuck Woods-Johnson IV, let Johnson fight another titlist. I wouldn't even mind seeing him fight Dawson, but Shaw and Warriors are going to continue measuring dicks, and pricing Johnson out of any potential fight (Shaw will continue to offer chump change, Margoules will continue to demand more than fair market value).

Agreed. Woods is a good test for Dawson. It'd be interesting to see if Chad could handle Clint as easily as RJ did. He might not, but I still think he'd clearly beat him, perhaps stop him.

Whever let Mendoza take that fight should be shot!! If you want a textbook definition on a "Mismatch",look no furtehr than this fight:doh: It was over before it even started.

Saying that though,Dawson is definatley the goods. He is virtually impossible to hit.

I wonder if Chad knows the definition to "Assess" yet?

I guess he'll have to wait until his promoter learns the difference between "revoke" and "invoke" - or at least their proper definitions

Have fun w/ the show tonight. Looking forward to Chris' thoughts on last night's "other" fight (being this one)

I'd give him a lot more credit if I didn't have him 0-3 against Johnson.

I thought Woods won the 3rd fight and Johnson won the first two. Though oddly enough, all three were almost the exact same fight. Johnson didn't do himself any favors sputtering down the stretch in the 1st and 3rd fights.

I thought he won enough of the first 9 rounds in the 3rd fight for the last 3 not to matter. I do agree that he gassed in both fights but I still had him winning. I can't see giving Woods more than 6 rounds in any of the fights.
