To me, the only logical way to mke p4p lists is to see how well the fighter does compared to others in his division. With impressive wins over Miranda and Taylor back-to-back Pavlik has pulled himself far above the rest of middleweights. I think he ranks close to the top-3 right behind Pacquiao and Wlad

    Nah...

REED NEVER had Taylor Ranked HIGHLY N a Lb 4 Lb Sense...Top 10 for CERTAIN, but NEVER even Top 5:nono: ...

After BEATING Taylor, REED Thinks Pavlik CRACKS the Top 10, but he's NO Higher than 8 or So...

    What?

2 wins, one over a guy that lost his O to Pavliks biggest opponent???

No chance he cracks any pfp rankings yet.

    hahaha!

Everyone seems to have missed that UGTBK had WLAD in his top 2.

    Anyway...Pavlik is top 10

    1. Mayweather
    2. Pacquaio
    3. Hopkins
    4. Calzaghe
    5. Hatton
    6. Pavlik

    Something like that.

    Pavlik would fuck Hagler up.

No...wait...Pavlik is Hearns with a Chin.

Oh...I have it...Pavlik is the illegitimate lovechild of Alexis Arguello and Patty Hearst.

I'd say at best, he becomes Top 10 P4P only if you previously had Taylor ranked. I didn't, and would put Pavlik right around where Taylor was on my list - somewhere in the Top 15. Only Pavlik's on the rise, whereas Taylor's rank managed to drop with each fight.

This is what i hate following a win like this, Palvik although great win lets not forget he was on verge of been stopped by Taylor. Taylor has looked bad in his last few outings and was not considered top 10 p4p imo

Though UNimpressive, U HAD to Rank Taylor N the Top 10 Based PURELY on WHO he Fought & the FACT that he was Undefeated...

REED had Taylor N the LOWER Half of his Top 10...

And although he was close to being stopped, it was clearly due to his stupid taunt at Taylor during the end of the exchange. He got caught in the moment and got caught. If he hadn't stuck his chin out like that, things whould have been much different.

I bet it's the last time he tries something stupid like that.

No not really, and this is why i believe p4p rankings are silly, they are supposed to be based on a fighters value based on other divisions if they weighed the same. What happens is fighters jump up in these silly rankings after one win and become overhyped.

For example look what happened a few years back when Mosley beat ODLH he was one of the top p4p then he got beat by Forrest who then is considered one of the best p4p then he gets beat by Mayorga then considered up there with the best p4p it is laughable.

P4p rankings = bag of shit

p.s. i don't think Taylor was in top ten in these wank rating prior to this fight anyway.

For what's it Worth, After Mosley LOST to Forrest, Vernon ENTERED on the LOW End of REED's Lb 4 Lb List, & was Ranked LOWER than Shane was...

Shane CAN'T Beat Vernon Forrest, but CLEARLY he's a BETTER Fighter...Same Rule Applied when Tarver KO'ed Roy...Roy is Deeeeeeeeeeeply TROUBLED by Tarvers Syle, but he's UNDENIABLY BETTER than Tarver...

Mayorga NEVER Entered REED's Personal Lb 4 Lb List:nono: ...EVER...

N the Last 10-15 Years, REED has Had 3 Guys Ranked # 1 Lb 4 Lb...Sweet Pea Whittaker, Roy Jones & Floyd Mayweather...& Looking Back, NO OTHER Fighters SHOULD have Been Given that Designation EXCEPT those 3...Meanwhile, RING Magazine (The Bible of DeLa) has had Whittaker, Roy, DeLa, Tito, Shane, Floyd & NOW they're Dangerously CLOSE to Putting Manny Pac there:lol: ...

Lb 4 Lb CAN B a Silly, BULLSHIT Thing...REED Agrees w/U on that Point...But REED Takes his Personal List VERY Seriously...

"Like I Said Before", U HAD to Have Taylor SOMEWHERE in the Top 10...The Guy Fought Bernard TWICE, Winky, Ouma & Spinks & NEVER LOST...

Somewhat Similar to DeLa, Taylor's Ranking was Based on WHO he Fought Moreso than HOW he Looked...

you left out Hopkins, who I believe The Ring had as #1 from Tarver-Roy II to Taylor-Hopkins I... and I thought from Forrest-Shane I to Roy-Ruiz as well.

    U're Right (as USUAL),TWIN...

Personally, REED NEVER Ranked Bernard # 1...The Night Tarver KO'ed Roy is the Night Floyd Took Over the TOP Spot on REED's List...

  20. Jake

Jake WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

yeah, The Ring was way too desperate to annoint Hopkins. Any period where he could've laid claim to the top spot was by default, and certainly not for as long as they had him #1.

And as you alluded to, they seem to be doing the same with Pac, looking for any reason to bump Floyd from the top. Being exciting was never a pre-requisite for (most) pound-for-pound rankings. Unless of course, you're ranking the pound-for-pound most exciting fighters in the world.

Until at the very least Pac beats JM Marquez (or perhaps even Juan Diaz or Casamayor), #1 is Floyd's to lose.

he's the legitimate champion of 147 so that's good enough. Add in all of his career accomplishments and he is CLEARLY #1. :bears:

pavlik is comparable to the unbeaten 130lb version of corrales. corrales wouldve fucked a guy like taylor up too, he ran into someone far better than taylor tho

Corrales was never a real champion at 130. He just had some alphabet belt.

  29. Neil

I don't give a fuck. if the 'real' champion was a j.taylor calibur fighter then corrales wouldve knocked him out.

  30. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

Yeah they are somewhat comparable. Both tall, lanky guys w/leaky defense, less than great chins, and brutal power. Chico was a better short puncher, and had quicker hands, but Pavlik has a better jab than Chico ever did.

And I agree that P4P, Chico would've wasted Taylor.
