I always get him and his brother mixed up - I guess it was Andre who peformed in the 1500 meter qualifier against Curtass Stevens. To answer the question - no clue. I guess it'd be as good a reason as any to contact Goossen-Tutor and find out.
better question is, how long is it gonna take for Andre Ward to step up his competition. he's arguably the most ignored US gold medalist of all time.
Ward's fighting next month in St. Lucia. I believe it's going to be on ShoBox. I forget who he's fighting, but know that he's undefeated.
Specifically asked him about when he would step up his competition... http://video.boxingscene.com/filess/award1.wmv
The way Ward got badly buzzed in his first few fights plus the hand injury is part of the reason he's moved so slowly. I don't have any issues with him moving slowly and hopefully he's been able to fill the gaps in his game which will make him a better fighter in the long run.
What DISTURBS REED about Ward is that he's Almost "Wussing Out" in a Sense... Andre Berto's Been Dropped & Rattled ALSO,yet he's STILL Challenging Himself... Ward Gets Caught & he's Gone into a SHELL Since...His Braintrust will SPIN that However they Wish, but it's a CLEAR Sign of a LACK of Confidence.... REED
On the flipside... I think Ward has better all-around skills than Berto. Berto's style lends itself to his having a shortened career. Plus, there's a TON of money around 147-154 which makes more sense as to why Berto's last two fights were bigger steps up than Ward's. "However" When you're getting dropped and SERIOUSLY hurt by Cosme Rivera and buzzed several times by David Estrada, his management team MUST get him moving quickly because he's prone to get clipped by the first real puncher he faces.
Definitely true. But to be fair - Berto's been dropped/rattled by good competition and tough fighters.... Ward's been BADLY hurt by "nobodies." Peace.
my thoughts exactly. Ward impresses everyone with good skills, but from what I have seen he will never win a big fight that he has to dig down deep to win.
